We knew they lost their balls in the aftermath of dickwolves 11 years ago but now they are openly licking the boot that is stamping on their face.
It won't help of course, since they are white and male and straight, the beast they are futilely attempting to appease will eventually turn its rapacious jaws on them. One crack in the eggshells they are walking on and dickwolves will be prosecuted all over again. And with it anything else in their public profile that was previously considered off-color and is now a capital offense.
In a way it is our fault. Post-dickwolves we failed to mount a proper defense to the faux-outrage assault. At the time, they probably looked around and saw nothing but enemies everywhere they turned. In their mind surrender, bargaining, and pleading for mercy was probably rationalized as their best bad option. We didn't have the awareness of the magnitude of the problem that gamergate uncovered. And we didn't realize we could meaningfully push back, show support, and welcome them if they were willing to join us.
The PA guys are wrong and I won't support them, but they do have my sympathy. Tycho failed as a father and now has an it for a son. It's not too surprising they can't see straight when they've surrounded themselves (and their children) with demons.
They're material got me through some rough patches. I pray someone will do the same for them.

The boy's autistic and wants to be a 'they.' Tycho obliged. Now Tycho only uses plural pronouns for other people. Tycho and Straub did a 1P TTRPG session at the last PAX that was borderline incomprehensible because everyone was 'they.'

From what I had read over the years, it seems like Tycho in particular had a real rough relationship with his father who was a real man's man (and IIRC conservative Christian). Kind of like Spoony if anyone followed that shitshow...
I always had the impression that both Gabe and Tycho were in way over their heads with their kids, and WAY over compensating.
As someone who is clearly spending plenty of time reading KiA/KiA2/etc, and playing some vidya, though not as many as I used to, I limit the shit out of what my kids can play, how much they can play, and no fucking way are they on social media. That day will come eventually, but for now, let kids be kids... Shit is cancer for youth.

That isn't to say I wouldn't have been at risk if I was just a few years younger. If I was just, say, even 5 years younger I think it would be very possible. Almost a guarantee if I was any younger than that.

I’m surprised he let it come to that considered how based they had been in the past. A lot of their PA reality thing was them being dicks and being relatively based back in the day. Comic stopped being funny a while back, but I still liked those guys back in the day. Met them a number of times and they were always really nice to fans that weren’t dicks.

True, but then again how could we? Back then we were fighting what we thought were the last vestiges of the culture war against Jack Thompson and co., we had no way of knowing we were already in another against the far left. (Hell, a lot of us weren't even in college yet) We were still 4 years out from that and even then it still took another few years for us to realize it. And even then some of us (read: kia1-type people) still haven't gotten the hint.

Oh no. I looked away from the trainwreck too soon. I loved Chainsawsuit, Blamimations, and the Kris and Scot show. Then the latter two went away and he started dumping retarded shit on Chainsawsuit, so I just drifted away. But it's worse than that, isn't it? I haven't seen any of C-Team or that stuff.
PvP got bad, too, not in a political way, it just wasn't good at all anymore. I still catch up on PA regularly, but this comic just made me sigh in disappointment.
Straub went crazy back during GG. He made a couple anti-GG comics on CSS that you'll still find in circulation today. PA drifted away from Kurtz over the rights to AI, but I think Straub ditched him because PvP was 'problematic' somehow. I don't know the details, I didn't follow K+S as closely.
Unlike the others, Straub wasn't always an arty-farty. He has an engineering background. That's why him snapping first stings. I had hoped the trained analytic mind would put up resistance. Him going first just meant the others were a matter of time.
Yeah, GG was the tipping point where I got the bad vibes from Straub.
That transition was so weird. In 2011, PA, gamers, nerds, my coworkers, basically everyone would be "Team Dickwolf" when it came to that kind of issue. Then by the time GamerGate happened, they all became SJWs without even noticing they had changed. I swear to god, in 2012-2013, they put something in the water supply that messed with people's minds. The change was so fundamental and so swift.
Anyways, it's nice to reminisce about old times. I liked the Penny Arcade circle and web comics as a whole. But social media changed that landscape too much, I think.

It sucks that the best DnD podcast was AI in 4th edition. It basically peaked when Pat replacing Wil. Nothing really compares to it and I'm honestly embarrassed by the following of Critical Role and the other big ones. Mainly because the actual gameplay execution is so sloppy and scripted.
I'm a 4e supremacist, but I think 4e is the ideal edition for podcasts. Describing turn by turn tactics is true theater of the mind and if combat is played legit, it's genuinely unpredictable.
I understand why the PAX shows moved to big set pieces and largely made combat symbolic. I don't understand why livestreamed shows, without the time constraints of a PAX, do the same.

I started reading PA in 1999. I haven't consistently read it in maybe 10 or 12 years. A friend of mine was a mod on the forums and helped out at some of the earliest PAXes. They've pretty much always been like this. Snarky, know-it-all, elitist geek humor. That's what they are.
These guys have been doing the exact same thing for almost 25 years now. They're a perfect case of total arrested development. They dramatically scaled back their operations a few years ago so they can do just the stuff they want to ... comics and D&D. Good for them.
