I mean who is most likely to be interested enough in a museum to volunteer their time? I hope people stop donating and this museum crashes and burns.
They let go of the volunteers and are replacing them with $25/hr paid workers.

Well, the volunteers should have been first in fucking line for those jobs.
And to think, the people who are supposed to help youngsters find employment will say: "Do volunteer work! It can lead to a paid job!" Bleah.
Nobody, not even the boomers who espouse that bullshit, rewards dedication anymore. They just see dedicated people as fools who deserve to be exploited and then tossed aside when they are no longer seen as useful.
This applies mostly to salary management. In my years with the company I'm with now, I've sen more low level managers turn tail than any other position in the company who are hourly. I was asked if I wanted to get into the LEAD program, and I replied "no, I like my work here and the money I make. I will make less in management and my skills will not be utilized." Their only response was your opportunities to make more money will grow. So I reminded them that they are my managers managers and that the positions they have were given to them through their network of friends and confidants. They didn't like that, but for some reason the EEO paid attention. Though, I don't know if their sacking relates to my expression. I did write to corporate about how low level management was constantly turning over and it was affecting company growth.

These sorts of volunteers are old, wealthy white women. They don't have to worry about money since they already got loads of it and things like this are mainly so they get an excuse to get out of their high-rise or manse so they don't wither away after retirement. The painting in the article is pathetic, but they have American Gothic there and by the looks of it a lot of other cool stuff. They need to move those treasures to a whiter city before the place gets burned down. I'm serious. I think they did that in maybe Detroit or somewhere when it went belly up and they complained it was racist robbery, even though the creations were those of Whites. If I had to bet I would give very favorable odds that the volunteers are egalitarians. As such this is a highly humorous red-pill outcome that they just got hit with. If they allowed themselves to realize, it which is quite possible they won't since cognitive dissonance is highly disruptive and people only deal with it when they have no choice. For that, it is entirely dependent on the individual person.
On a side note cognitive dissonance is very interesting in that you almost always see the physical manifestations of it in a person. It is easily recognizable once you have seen it a few times.
