Right? I'm sick and tired of people who see tyrannical or unethical shit and just say "they are just doing what they had to" or "they're just doing their job".

As if being a cog in the machine doesn't perpetuate the function of the machine.

Can you not send remedial, dial-up-like signals over shortwave radio?

The reason for them is because specialized technical fields need them to communicate complex ideas quickly. Especially if you have to use the same few terms over and over again.

Management types adopted this because they think they sound smart like the techies when they spout off a mouthful of acronyms. Bonus points if you have to ask what an acronym means and they can act smug that they knew it and you didn't.

Came here to say this. This principal only works one way. Do not expect progressive "professionals" to be competent despite their political leanings.

Holy Roman Empire too?

Yeah, until you get shut out of every supplier/distributor for "reasons". Do the math ahead of time and come up with a way to mine your own iron and smelt your own steel to ensure that you don't get cancelled.

It's funny (sick) that child molestation is a culturally acceptable act (even pushed with tax dollars) but protesting the consensus is jail time.

I literally was just talking about this earlier today. I don't know what the tipping point was officially but a lot of reviews of stuff this week (Starfield comes to mind) came with excuses on why pronoun selection isn't that big of a deal and you are wrong if you have a problem with it.

People who acknowledge they "don't like pronouns" or 'think they are dumb" but in the next breath say it's stupid to complain about it or even mention it.

He has a few one offs but his main series is called Jawbreakers. I'm not much into comics but I bought the first one because of the controversy. It was entertaining and the art is good.

Because if you want to say climate change is a serious danger, you have to be willing to do what it takes to reverse it.

I will believe in climate change when they start talking about nuking China and India to keep them from destroying the planet. Not willing to sacrifice billions now to save trillions over the next 10,000 years? Then you don't really believe climate change poses an existential threat.

The section 230 argument was good for 2014/15 but at this point we have social media taking direct orders from government agencies to act on their behalf.

The idea that anyone can say with a straight face that social media sites are not government actors is either ignorance or hubris and neither is befitting a judge.

As much as I'm not a Fuentes fan and having an appreciation for IP's work:

This was embarrassing. They did not really attack what was said, they just dismissed what was said. It was a 3 on 1 but worse than that because they were reacting to a recording. Even with those odds in their favor, they still face-planted.

Could have dropped the "Canadian" and just left it at "News outlets are biased, coordinated, and government funded." my guy.

I have not personally noticed too much in the games themselves. Outside of the token (lol) diversity, most games are pretty neutral. The trick is finding people to play with. It is easier to make boardgamers your friends than it is to make your friends into boardgamers.

Find a game night at a local store or pub and go to one. If the people give you the wrong vibes, move on to the next one.
