90+ day bans for "I don't like what this guy says" in this community of all places is absolutely ridiculous.

Just yesterday a Rule 2 violation got banned for only 2 days.

I don't know about Saudi Arabia specifically, but it's pretty well known Qatar is also a big player in information warfare.

Probably could be safely assumed any government big enough to be able suckle the kind of tax money needed to fund these operations are most certainly doing it.

Deny the mindshare. Star Wars was only three movies (six if you're feeling froggy) and that's it. I don't understand hate watchers for this reason, especially when the new shepherds outwardly say they hate you, the existing fan.

Huh? "The Force Awakens"? Is that a real thing? Sounds fake.

A great read, punching above its weight even 8 years ago.

No motive at all, other than taking control of the levers of power. Once they have it, oops, no standing!

Ah, but if you don't have crime, how do you keep people scared and voting for more daddy government to keep you safe?

Singapore doesn't have that problem, because they're essentially already ruled by tyranny. A prosperous one for the people (such that it serves the tyrants), sure, but tyranny none the less.

The community note is there simply to be a scarlet letter to shame the post.

Someone accused CNN of faking coverage and someone put up a community note with CNN saying "nuh uh!" and somehow that is "context".

We saw it in tech. When the DMCA hit, literally all the encryption research with a damn (that is, actual encryption research, not how to bribe companies into installing backdoors) went to other countries.

Even an AI would realize Capcom hasn't put out anything relevant in the past decade that isn't a pozzed remake or pozzed sequel.

Only a fool wouldn't believe there was a coordinated effort to push people to eating chemical pucks being pumped out of factories over real, natural food. There's too much money on the table to leave it up to chance that NPCs should spend 3x as much for processed seed oils and HFCS with commercials and packaging alone.

The major goal to flip to the next chapter is "having nice things and happiness is a human right." Then once that is exploited to being about global communism, such nonsense will be forgotten as, once again as the only possible natural reality, "only those who work shall eat."

The accelerationist theory is that, contrary to the boiling frog allegory, a quick escalation of tensions will snap delusional people out of their magical thinking and they'll suddenly realize what's worth protecting and, most importantly, actually do so.

I'm not sure that's what would actually happen, but that's the hope. It is certainly a dangerous gamble.

Translation: we need to lecture you on how Whites R Bad (TM) and communism reparations "justice" requires changes

Yes. And it's even more absurd when a lot of creators just straight up mention talking to a script.

They don't just post it somewhere because they want the views, because YouTube and their sponsors pay them to make videos, not essays.

It's an extremely silly waste of time, but I guess that's what happens when money was injected into what used to just be called blogging.

Considering every exclusive is a carrier for The Message, I personally find it very hard to get excited about any console exclusive.

Their most recent adventure had bad decisions turning a player into a Mind Flayer. WotC wrote that the DM needs player consent to do this, and the player can just say "nah, I don't wanna" to avoid it.

Old editions live on in OSR clones, many of which are still quite compatible with old source materials, too. Loving Old School Essentials, hoping to crack in to the extra Advanced rules (cloning some of the AD&D stuff to merge into the base game that modeled more-or-less basic) next year with wrapping up a campaign with friends.
