It’s amazing he can claim google and Apple have a monopoly with a straight face. Especially since they both compete with each other and nothing is technically stopping anyone from developing another App Store for android. Samsung had one on their phones, not sure if they still do. And nothing is stopping him from developing an epic phone on his own os or a custom android os….. probably would have been a better use of money than free games and exclusivity deals on EGS.
It’s also not like iPhone users are not aware that it’s a closed system. And the argument of a sunk cost fallacy with having to buy new apps if they switch is silly given a significant number of apps are subscription based or cost 1$. I probably do not have $12 in apps on my phone if even that. And with the price of iPhones, Pixels, and Galaxy phones that extra $12 isn’t going to break the bank
It’s a risk of unnecessary slow down for some places. Imagine one of the few remaining US based factories have an assembly line that’s been running since the 70s they updated the line to have a modern computer for what’s essentially automated data entry into a spreadsheet covering production numbers, down time for machine break downs, or a fork lift being late for supplies for the line, etc. with a computer running xp when it came out. it took a while for the line to get to producing the expected output. After all some machines are from the 70s, 80, 90s, 00s, and 10s. Why would you screw up your production to update the os or computer hardware for spreadsheet entry. Unless it’s becomes more difficult or more expensive to replace parts on those computers throwing in modern tech with decades old equipment will have a lot of growing pains. Cutting into your expected output, which then makes the cost of your product go up. Shareholders are starting to question why the factory is still in the US instead of the third world…. All because some dumb IT guy thought windows 11 and the latest version Of excel would somehow enter numbers into a spreadsheet better
As a big open source proponent , the major weakness in FOSS is these people like to get into moderator roles and then become the little dictators they’ve always wanted to be. Mods for anything should be thoroughly and painstakingly vetted no matter how insignificant the platform.
This wasn’t the norm pre columbine and was still pretty rare after it for a while.
And the most irritating things about the gun aspect is there is no real leap in tech on our guns since vietnam. The weapon tech we have now is old enough to be a grandparent. But our media and the left blame them for all of this and not their failed policies and failed anti family and anti responsibility culture they decide to promote.
Probably both. The Russians also do not really have the capability to conduct a war with a country it does not share a border with at the moment, so not only would a strike on the west with an icbm be a guarantee of a return strike, but their navy isn’t cable to project force to ensure a successful troop landing if they even have the ships to do one at all. I think they have one aircraft carrier, and from what I’ve read online it’s frequently needing repairs that are greater than your regular maintenance.
A good rule to live by: if one group wants you to distance yourself from your family because they disagree with their values and your family loves you but doesn’t understand why you hang around with that first group, always side with your family. You cut off your family they will love you unconditionally. Those “friends” will throw you under a bus as soon as it appears more beneficial than keeping you around.
From my time traveling through NC and VA I noticed people from NC are typically braves fans or possibly supporters of whatever their local minor league team has an affiliate agreement with. VA natives are typically Braves fans (from back when they had the Richmond braves minor league team) Nationals, or pirates fans. The Yankees support is almost entirely transplants.
Android is open source. Nothing stops anyone from making changes to the os for their phones including removal of the play store. Google just prevents them from using the android trademark if they don’t fall in line with their comparability standards. Technically speaking they could hit every metric of compatibility with the exception of the play store and third party apps would run on their os exactly the same. All it would take would be a smart marketing campaign to explain it. So they don’t have to have it on it.
