The result of Louis Rossmann's audit by the State of New York that lead him to decide to move because he "no longer wanted to be treated like a criminal because people in the government are too lazy to read." (www.youtube.com)

Our government LOVES fucking auditing the little guy.

FTX DIDN'T even have an accounting department. And it was a $30bn company.

NOBODY in the media even criticises him.

Our government LOVES fucking auditing the little guy.

Yes, and that's by design. Take this law for example. What the law does is when a cell phone company is audited to see if they are correctly collecting local sales tax, the state auditing the phone company has to go through the location data or each and every customer and inform the phone company of any discrepancies. And if they don't, they are immune from any tax liability. And when being audited, there's generally only a handful of auditors even for a company the size of AT&T. So what happens is that the state tax agencies say screw it, we'll audit Mo's Tavern down the street instead.

This is because the local dive bar doesn't have the protections in law that the mega corp gets, and an audit is actually manageable for one to two people to do. And this is all by design because the small business doesn't have the money to hire lobbyists and bribe politicians to get special breaks in the tax code.

The same thing happens at an individual income tax level too. It's much easier (and lucrative) for the government to go after the local dentist who makes just enough to be a juicy tax target and will only hire a CPA or a single tax attorney than a fortune 500 CEO who'll hire an army of lawyers that will bury the auditors in paperwork.

Banana republic city does banana republic stuff.

He's particularly right about bankrupt governments looking for money: they'll never tax the rich because they can defend themselves, they'll always tax the middle class.

"oh wow, I voted straight democrat for my whole life, because racism, the gays, and whammen, and now I am getting fucked over by the party that hates my race, sexual orientation and gender? How could this happen to me? It's the drumpf's fault"

If you actually watched him, you’d know he actually hasn’t voted for a democrat or republican since he’s been eligible to vote. He voted for Larry Sharpe in the last NY gubernatorial election because Sharpe was the most pro-R2R candidate, and in addition, he’s had multiple videos where he:

Defended and endorsed the bodega guy

Shit on AOC, Cuomo and DeBlasio

Talked about how he hates the covid restrictions

Supports the second amendment

Despises censorship

Promotes FOSS projects like GrapheneOS

Etc.

If people would actually watch his fucking channel instead of assuming that just because he stayed in NYC for so long, he must be a libtard, you’d already know this.

The reason he stayed in NYC so long wasn’t for him, it was because he didn’t want his employees to get fucked, but after getting the grant to advocate for R2R by Eron Wolf, he not only has had the money to move for a while, and has reasons to move outside of this bullshit audit, but can bring some of his best employees with him, while allowing the employees who can’t move to post repair videos on his channel as examples of their skill to show future employers.

Cool, so he threw his vote away on fringe parties instead of dealing with the reality of first past the post and voting against communists.

I'd say I hope he learned his lesson, but him and thousands like him fucked his state right good.

Cry more. This purity spiral BS is retarded and counterproductive. Guy voted 3rd party. First guy was dead wrong. In what world is the rational response "well he didn't throw his vote away for MY guy". If you dont win you threw your vote away, period.

Cry more

He didn't leave my state and he didn't move to my state. His actions have no effect on me. What crying is warranted? "When you want to insult someone but you're not smart enough to come up with anything relevant."

This purity spiral BS is retarded and counterproductive

You are attributing much more to my comment than what I said. Political parties being used to pool voter influence is a feature of the United States practically from the first election with the Federalists and Anti Federalists. It's about pulling votes together to actually win elections.

If he wants to be a single issue voter over Right to Repair, hey, that's great. But there are costs to everything including having zero representation in anything, including your single issue.

Only children get to ignore the practical realities of the world we live in to pursue idealized fantasy.

Disparaging people who have woken up and seen the errors in their ways won't help you in the long run. All that matters is who fights when civil war beaks out and being a little bitch doesn't help

Except he hasn't woken up, he likely moved to some dem enclave in texas, where he will keep voting straight blue. These people never learn, they are not able to make the connection.

"I didn't leave the left, the left left me. There are no lessons for me to learn, there are no changes I have to make, the world shifted around me"

Agreed.

I didn't leave the left, the left left me

Everyone who says this is just biding their time. It is the entire basis for American Conservativism and look at their limp wristed resistance to social and political upheaval decade by decade. In the '60 conservatives gave up freedom of association, in the 70s they gave up to country to immigrants, in the 80s they gave over our manufacturing base to hostile foreigners, and so on.

The problem of accepting people who have "seen the errors of their ways" is that they usually haven't.

Not sure of his politics outside of right to repair, but hopefully he understands the politics that caused his situation to happen.

Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice.

Beetlej....

No, but seriously. He does look like he's under a great deal of stress, however most Youtubers are. He's blaming the IRS, but it might just be his Youtuber existence as well. All of those guys are headcases.

He probably has many sources of stress. Besides the whole right to repair fight with Apple, board level repair is a dying business in general because of the cost versus simply replacing the machine in many cases.

Apple was an ideal target once because their computers were expensive enough to justify repair rather than replacement and because of fewer different models to have to learn. But if you’re following Rossmann you likely already know about the shit Apple has pulled to put a stop to that.

You gotta feel for him in a core of being kind of way. He was merely staying because of the situation his employees were in.

It was causing him a nightmare of issues, but he put up with it. And finally when he got things sorted, and the funds to leave, he did.

I can appreciate that as someone that got stuck between a rock and a hard place for a decade, but is now in a better place both in life and finance.
