I find this to be an acceptable compromise.
Then you can spare a few so that Europe can also be rid of a few liars.
While I'm sympathetic to Europe's need to deal with its journalist problem, I think it'd be worse for you guys in the long run. Far better to just use old fashioned approaches. For inspiration I recommend reading up of Vlad Tepes.

If the denial doesn't work, I think the next step is equivocation. I don't think the left is gonna try to say it's a good thing, they'll just say you're a hypocrite for eating pigs but not cats. Vegans already have those talking points down, as do the bug eaters equivocating crickets and worms with shellfish.
