Remember when a handful of congressmen wanted to enshrine English as the official language of America and liberals were screaming that it was absurd and would never get changed anyway? Funny that…

Yet another aspect of our common culture that was destroyed by "civil rights" legislation. "Discrimination against national origin" was used to justify requiring government services in spanish and forcing state and local governments to pay for interpreter services in the name of "equality".

America is an economic zone. The civil rights act overrode the constitution.

Isn't it Caldwell who calls it 'the second constitution'? More and more, even in the mainstream, seem to believe that the harms done by so called civil rights legislation is greater than the benefits.

Also, they don't just deal with civil rights. A civil right is a right of a citizen (cives). This would include things like free speech, the right to vote, etc. It does not include the right to be treated equally by private actors.

The “civil rights” movement turned into a bully pulpit by the 80s and never looked back. Funny how the civil liberties always applied to “non-normative” people mean while “normative” people’s liberties have been eroded.

The country that persecutes Daniel Penny while valorizing whatever that thug's name was, will get fewer Daniel Penny's and more thugs.

I saw this initially from someone saying that the country that valorizes George Floyd while ignoring David Dorn will get more of the former and fewer of the latter. True enough.

"Democracy" is always protecting minority rights for some reason.

The only minority - or majority - whose rights "democracy" protects is the billionaire class.

Japan has elections and their government still protects Japanese rights, though the forces of evil are doing everything they can to erode that.

"It will never be [changed thing] anyways" is the biggest tell, a screaming, shouting tell, that you should expect it to become [changed thing].

Oh, you don't need to do this free, zero-cost, zero opportunity cost even thing, because the massive, MASSIVE consequences of if you don't will totally never happen.

You see it again and again. "Oh, you don't need to discuss about parental overwatch with teachers grooming kids, it never happens!", "Oh, you don't need to reinforce that people need to have some public decency even on Pride days, indecency at pride parades never happens!", "Oh, you don't need to highlight that they speak English in America!"

Just a few months ago there was the whole thing with passing a law that teachers couldn't sexually "educate" kindergartners about explicit sex acts without parental permission, and everyone was like "oh no, that's not happening so we should never pass a law against it, because it isn't happening. Also, you're genociding gay people with this bill, somehow."

That's going to be tricky. How are you defining American?

I'd consider anyone descended from a line of three generations of citizens to be an American, excluding "refugees", anchor babies, or anyone descended from illegal immigrants.

Let's kick out all the ones that definitely aren't.

When we run out of those we can start worrying about the edge cases.

I agree with that much.

The white immigrants of the late 1800s and early 1900s also caused problems. Irish gangs, Italian mobs, even the Germans caused mischief. And let's not forget a certain group that looks white but claims that it isn't...

What you mean is Anglos and people like the Anglos. The northernmost European peoples.

Fun fact: Benjamin Franklin once referred to Germans and Swedes as "swarthy" (you can guess what he meant in a more modern parlance) and didn't like them moving to the u.s.

That's going to be tricky. How are you defining American?

I just had this conversation with a couple of kids who recently received their American citizenship. I told them, flat out, that citizenship doesn't make you an American.

But, the caveat is, it's actually easy to be an American. All you have to do is say, I'm an American, the USA is the best place to live, and I just want to be left alone to run my own life.

The motivations of those who are trying to influence us matters.

Saddam is mean to israel = so what?

Saddam has WMDs and is a really mean guy who does all this awful stuff = spend blood and treasure to go git him.

But if it was in the public consciousness that the REAL reason we were getting bombarded with reports about all of the awful stuff Saddam does is because Israel supporters wanted the US to get rid of him then maybe we wouldn't have been in that retarded war.

Here's a fun question to ponder: will Stormfags bemoan this because it's bad for America, or will they cheer it because it's good for the only thing they care about, trying to sabotage the state of Israel?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 31 ▼
– MargarineMongoose 31 points 2 years ago +31 / -0

I bemoan it because a bunch of foreigners have no business being in my country, much less in my government. Israel does not enter into this equation, despite your obsessive need to white knight for them.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 8 ▼
– current_horror 8 points 2 years ago +8 / -0

What makes foreigners in your government a bad thing? Their loyalty to another nation/people, right?

So when Jewish Secretary of State Anthony Blinken openly declares his allegiance to Israel and the Jewish people, is he not admitting to a powerful bias in favor of a foreign nation/people?

What about Jewish Nuland, who doggedly sought war with Russia after her color revolution failed? Her clear vendetta against Putin reeks of ethnic grievance.

Ilhan Omar caught flak for publicly admitting what everyone already knows: that she is an advocate, first and foremost, for her home country and her own people. The only difference between her and most Jews in government is that she is too low IQ to hide her power level. Going purely by their actions (as opposed to their dissembling words), the vast majority of Jewish politicians are no different.

Any discussion of “the dangers of foreign agents occupying the American government” that does not start with recognition of the Jewish demographic is pointless at best and disingenuous at worst.

nice linguistic manipulation you got going there

Don't give israel billions, don't allow their lobbyists to buy our elections, don't allow their supporters to control our government to the detriment of Americans, don't fight their wars, don't allow their spies to steal our technology, don't pass laws giving israel and jews special privileges != sabotage.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– AntonioOfVenice 1 point 2 years ago +1 / -0

Excuse me, if you want to talk manipulation, you might want to look at the guy who, in the first comment, admits that he wants to harm Israeli interests, and when he is called out for it, claims that it's about... not allowing lobbyists to buy elections.

Also, you couldn't even answer the question, which is an answer in and of itself. You're cheering this, aren't you? Why don't you have the guts to admit it - even here, where 90% hate the same group you do?

Not future, present.

There are racial enclaves in america that do not care about being american, they care about being (insert racial demographic here). The fact that we have Ilhan Omar in congress proves this, there are others that are just not there yet.

You used to see this with chinatown or little italy in industrial cities because those were the places where the most opportunity existed - and there were no real support structures outside your connection with others from the homeland.

Now, we have a massive welfare state that enables people to move as groups wherever they want, and not have to struggle to survive nearly as much, so they can just focus those efforts into political and other institutional capture.

I think it was ~2007 when a bunch of Mexicans decided to do a walk out. They rather notably walked out draped in the Mexican flag. They don't consider themselves to be American, but the worst part is they actually consider themselves to be superior.

Now you know the underlying reasons for dumping massive numbers of 'refugees' into districts of certain states. Refugees are voting cattle when they inevitably get naturalized and get the right to vote (not that they would need to wait for that to be able to vote, given the voting ID laws, or rather, lack thereof in the United States of Free-For-All-Elections.
