Isn't it Caldwell who calls it 'the second constitution'? More and more, even in the mainstream, seem to believe that the harms done by so called civil rights legislation is greater than the benefits.

Also, they don't just deal with civil rights. A civil right is a right of a citizen (cives). This would include things like free speech, the right to vote, etc. It does not include the right to be treated equally by private actors.

The “civil rights” movement turned into a bully pulpit by the 80s and never looked back. Funny how the civil liberties always applied to “non-normative” people mean while “normative” people’s liberties have been eroded.

The country that persecutes Daniel Penny while valorizing whatever that thug's name was, will get fewer Daniel Penny's and more thugs.

I saw this initially from someone saying that the country that valorizes George Floyd while ignoring David Dorn will get more of the former and fewer of the latter. True enough.

"Democracy" is always protecting minority rights for some reason.

The only minority - or majority - whose rights "democracy" protects is the billionaire class.

Japan has elections and their government still protects Japanese rights, though the forces of evil are doing everything they can to erode that.
