Given this game is set up to be a perpetual service, I predict it will turn Uber woke in under a year.

Actually might make a post about it later since Arch made a video on it

The Devs are banning EVERYONE trying to bring politics into Helldivers 2.

Want an LGBT cape = ban

Want to complain about the people wanting an LGBT Cape = ban

They seem to be going 'shut up about politics and either play the game or don't ' which is actually refreshing for current times.

That's something I could get behind. I don't care what people believe, as long as shit is fair on all sides, and that is FAIR.

I agree, although I don’t think it will last. Anything that isn’t explicitly anti-woke will become woke eventually . These people have the time and the insanity needed to complain about shit endlessly until the devs do what they want, even though they were never going buy the game in the first place.

That is unique. Usually it’s “Free Ukraine! Free Palestine! Be Gay Do Crimes! ACAB Reproductive Rights are Human Rights! Protect Trans Lives!!” and then somebody mentions securing the border and suddenly it’s “THIS IS A POLITICS FREE ZONE!”

If they stay at that course they'll have me buying their next game also. The game is not only fun but also doesn't have devs who need to virtue signal? Sign me up.. Mif it stays that way, here's hoping.

The devs are fucking Swedes. Swedes are the QUEENS of cucking themselves so I fully expect their attitude to change in 6 months or so.

The fact that they’re Swedes and they haven’t cucked yet is pretty surprising though.

I just checked their board and they are all the same guys that created the company when they were in university together. I suspect they are all extremely tight-knit in order to still be working together after such a long time.

Taking a look at their numbers it just looks like the company has had steady growth with minimal to zero investors, which means they don't have any outside influence.

Deep Rock Galactic is a very similar type of game, and hasn't gone woke for the years it's been out. Smaller studios are less likely to get infected with the globohomo virus. The people working at Arrowhead (the studio that made Helldivers 2) have also shown to be relatively competent, which means they value merit over DEI, and the CEO has shown he's willing to openly push back and mock stupidity. On the other hand, the opening cut scene shows a mixed race couple, but then again, it shows the non-whites being ruthlessly butchered by a bug. Another positive is that the fanbase seems wholly disdainful of any attempts by Reddit tier lefties to try to shame "fascism" in the game, and every post they make on the subject has been ruthlessly mocked by the player base, even on the Helldiver Reddit forum (weirdly enough). So, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Difference being that Helldivers is published by Sony and was chosen to be in their special showcase, whereas DRG was and still is a small game under the notice of most anyone.

I won't say that guarantees anything about the game going woke, as it seems to be actively resisting currently (minus making the first 2 seconds of the game show you a mixed race couple in a propaganda video), but it has Soyny actively in its walls.

That's what I figured. All the manpower would be required at Arrowhead. The comment I replied to made it seem like Sony were hiring a bunch of people due to the success (sales) of HD2.

In Deep Rock Galactic, I encountered one, and only one retard whining ''how do I pick a female character'' ''you can't?!? they should fix that problem!''.

The only acceptable response is ''you're already playing a femal dwarf, don't let the beard fool you''.

May want to keep an eye on it, looks like they recently removed a voice line to not hurt people's feelings. "Die like your mother did."

I believe the voice line was only removed for the DRG-licensed auto-shooter survivor game, which is being developed by a completely different studio than DRG proper. Funday Games makes the survivor game while Ghost Ship Games makes the coop mining game.

That line still exists in the original game, as far as I'm aware.

Has anybody? Is it just destiny hype again?

Its closer to Vermintide with less RPG elements honestly. Jump into short missions with friends or randos, do more objectives for higher rewards, unlock cosmetics after the initial surge.

Its 100% just a flavor of the month popular because its a funny game to yell meme lines at while coop with your friends. Which isn't a bad thing, but it ain't that deep either.

I only saw a stream of it for a short amount of time, and whatever genre Vermintide is, that's the impression I got too.

When I think about it, if I had friends to play shit with, I actually kinda think something like Vermintide would be something I'd want to play with them.

Vermintide 2 was a pretty solid game on release, that just got worse with each patch and content added. It was good enough that even random matchmaking was worth doing until you needed top level difficulty.

But the important thing it did right, that Helldivers doesn't, is that it allowed bots to fill your group if you didn't have a full party. So even if it was just 2 of you, you could mostly play just fine.

Helldivers is 100% a "bring 2-3 friends or don't bother" type of coop game.

I actually got the base game of Vermintide 2 for free, and for a bit, it was starting to look kinda fun. But like I said, not really many gamer friends to have that kind of fun with, and it starts to lose appeal.

I think its a good enough game to enjoy on your own if the matchmaking still has enough people to get you at least 1-2 randos to run with. Unless the gameplay changes over the years are more severe than I know.

Just don't get so into it you want to play the highest difficulty levels and get the best gear, because that's when you gotta bring friends and coordination.

The gameplay loop is fun. It's very similar to Deep Rock Galactic, which is endlessly replayable because of the gameplay loop. Even after you unlock all the weapons and skins, it's still fun to play. If you like this type of game, you'll like it for a long time. Each map is different, the layout is randomized, and each planet is unique, with different biomes, visibility, day/night cycles, smoke/haze (which impugns on you and your enemies ability to see), and various modifiers which affect mission playstyles. The world is highly destructible (less so than Deep Rock Galactic, but that's a special case): buildings and cover can be destroyed; trees and foliage actually block shots until they're destroyed; dead bodies leave cover for enemies/friends behind them; and large explosions actually leave craters in the ground which can provide cover in prone position.

The game is also funny. You can play it seriously or lean into the humor. It can also be really wholesome, as you have player interactable emotes (like a hug), and the entire crew will often hug and/or salute each other before a mission extract.

It's a lot more complex than one would normally assume. Some examples... Reloading a new magazine gets rid of the ammo you had in the old mag (which doesn't magically reappear in your inventory like in almost all other shooters). Reloading with 1 round left in the chamber is faster than with an empty mag (this is a real world gun thing, if you know, you know). Reloading is staged so if you're interrupted mid reload, like when you have to dive to avoid a bug or a missile, your reload time (and the animation) is shorter afterward. Glancing hits with grenades can ricochet and some anti-armor guns do more damage with direct on hits, and can also ricochet off the heavier armor with glancing hits. There's crew fed weapons (which need to be buffed to compete with the railgun, but still). You can play it more stealth like if you want to (and with team mates who will cooperate), especially with the right armor and being mindful of patrols. Laying prone reduces damage from surface explosions. Crouching and laying prone increases stamina regen, reduces recoil, and reduces your sight picture (aggro radius) to bugs. Light sources (like lamp posts) increase aggro radius, but can also severally interfere with your ability to see enemies through the glare, but they can also be destroyed. And (once they figure out the weapon balancing), there will be a lot of leeway in build options.

Given the history of Helldivers 1, and what the devs have said, there's also going to be quite a lot of future content for the game, in terms of enemies, missions, planets, guns, stratagems, armor, and cosmetics.

I'd also like to add that you don't have to spend real world money to get certain cosmetics in the game. All game cosmetics can be earned through playing the game.

If the game didn't have the rootkit, it would be 10/10. With the rootkit, if you're willing to accept it, the game is definitely worth a buy.

It’s quite fun with friends, but can be terrible with randoms as it is incredibly easy to grief. So far I’ve played almost exclusively with friends and it’s been great, but with randoms it’s been hit or miss (70% of the time everything is great, players play well together, and work cooperatively. 30% of the time they call air strikes on your location and then refuse to respawn you)

It’s also on PS5 if you want to avoid the rootkit. I’ve been playing it and think it’s a lot of fun. It has the right mix of action and explosions without being too serious.

A rootkit is a security hazard, but a modern console is just buying a shitty low end PC that makes you pay a monthly fee to use your own internet.

PS5 and xbone are basically physical malware at this point, on top of being cancer on the games industry.

Best CGI facial expressions I have ever seen while we're on the subject. I actually thought it was just live action with a filter at first.
