I actually got the base game of Vermintide 2 for free, and for a bit, it was starting to look kinda fun. But like I said, not really many gamer friends to have that kind of fun with, and it starts to lose appeal.
I think its a good enough game to enjoy on your own if the matchmaking still has enough people to get you at least 1-2 randos to run with. Unless the gameplay changes over the years are more severe than I know.
Just don't get so into it you want to play the highest difficulty levels and get the best gear, because that's when you gotta bring friends and coordination.
