Baseball is fucking boring.

There, I said it.

The most boring sport in the world to watch except for curling. And golf. And cricket.

Baseball is the fourth most boring sport in the world.

It is now.

Home run, walk, strikeout. The Three True Outcomes.

That is what baseball has devolved into.

Kyle Schwarber struck out over two dozen more times this one season than Tony Gwynn did in the 1990s. The ENTIRE 1990s.

Kyle Schwarber hit .197 this past year. But he hit 47 homers, so the analytics eggheads think he's a good hitter.

And the general public LOVES THIS and wants to see MORE of it. Attendance and TV ratings have shot up this year.

And that's not even getting into the wokeness.

Fuck modern baseball.

Sounds like what's happened in the NBA and NFL where they've juiced the rules in favor of the offense to facilitate more "exciting" high-scoring games.

But I haven't really followed any pro sports since the leagues went 100% political so I guess I'm not the target audience any more. Gives me a lot more free time on Sundays at least.

Major league baseball even banned the shift, so defenses can't punish hitters who can't hit to the opposite side.

Had that argument years ago with people trying to convince me Joey Gallo was a superstar. Not a chance. He wasn't even capable of putting a ball towards the third base side when they leave it entirely open. But holy shit 40 HR wow! Turned out I was right. It's fun to watch the cat and mouse of a good pitcher and hitter. Watching a guy swing full tilt at everything and hope it goes out, not so much.

I remember way back in the day there were a couple of weeks one season where Brady Anderson was batting .600 and it was fucking nuts. Good times.

Admit it. You just miss the steroids era.

Actually, I miss the '80s, where they just put the ball in play and few players hit 50 homers in a season.

Gary Sheffield Jr., son of the 9-time All-Star, agrees with me.

Which is getting all these elbows destroyed, and I hate it so much. DeGrom is one of the biggest what ifs in baseball history.

Women's curling, much like women's volleyball, is infinitely more watchable than baseball if one had to watch a sport.

Its also a great way to create and understand division without actually usually being divided.

Your buddy with a different team will banter with you in a manner that would make most Leftist's head explode, with a level of vitriol and hatred that sometimes can be scary on the outside. But he is still your mate and you learned to accept and throw it back just the same.

The kind of skin thickening and gut ironing that most people are missing since they banned any and all competition or fun in competition from kids.

It's also about watching something done well. I can watch Norm Abrams build wooden furniture or Bob Ross put happy little bushes on canvases or world record non-tool-assisted speed runs or Peyton Manning run an offense.

It's cool to see a level of mastery of a craft, even if the craft is throwing a ball or shaving seconds off of a Super Metroid run. Helps to have more than passing familiarity with an activity to appreciate watching it as well, but it's not strictly necessary.

At one point, the average age of baseball fans went up by ten years in ten years.

Watching motorsports is for cripples, that's why I drive 180mph down residential streets.

Motorsports are much more complicated to go play, expensive and dangerous as well. All you need to go play sportsball is a field and a ball.

All you need to play motorsports is a Dodge Challenger, a repeat offender, and every state trooper you can find.

It always reminds me of the attitude many atheists feel like they have to carry around with them where they talk down to everyone below them. It's not like they just don't like sports, they want to be condescending to anyone that does.

Sure there are issues with tons of these sports leagues all over the world and current year stuff, but watching men compete for entertainment goes back almost all of recorded history and is perfectly fine.
