Tech Jesus made a video talking about how fucking awful Linus Tech Tips are at reviewing tech, how the only concern is getting out as many videos as possible, and how Linus can't be fucked to have someone do a retake for 2 minutes of audio.
My favorite portion of that video was when Linus jammed a copper cooler prototype thing onto a card it was never designed for, then auctioned it off to some stranger after declaring it was shit and worthless, despite promising to send it back to the original creators of the device and setting them back months since that was their best working model. Great guy.
Another good point was that they're getting really mixed up with corporate sponsorships. LTT's screwdriver is coming out in Noctua colors which makes one wonder about the credibility of future Noctua reviews. Linus is also invested in the framework laptop and LTT's laptop content has changed over it.
All I get out of this whole situation is a bunch of Youtubers acting like children over a fucking $900 water cooling block. You know what, I'm going to call out this water cooling block too. If you spend $900 on a PC water cooling block, you're a fucking idiot. The end.
Wait was $900 supposed to be the retail price? I assumed $900 was the prototype manufacturing cost of that unit. I.E. how much the company was out of pocket once Linus ran off and sold their shit.
If I'm looking correctly it's this https://billetlabs.com/products/monoblock where I don't see anything about a prototype but it's asking me for $905 reduced to $840 (as a preorder discount) to buy one.
Yeah it's just such a crazy price that when I first heard it I assumed it was the inflated prototyping cost, not final retail.
Especially since it'll only fit that card and in 5 years, tops, you need to upgrade.
It's not just about the cooling block, though that was a really obviously stupid thing they did.

You're completely right. Linus has too much greed and too little humility. Can't stop cutting corners and can't accept corrections without getting butthurt.
The only thing Linus should have taken from that video is that they need more time per video for the quality to be up to par, but it seems that he doesn't consider that an option. 120 employees must be too many for a quality product, especially with western diversity laws.

Yeah the "add a text correction in post" thing is something I expect from a 100k youtuber who's a one-man operation shooting videos in the backyard, not a 120 employee company getting $100m buyout offers.
