I read this leak/speculation on Bounding into Comics but considering it is Disney Star Wars I can totally see this happening. The working title is also New Jedi Order which leads me to believe it will be giving Rey what Luke's story was in the EU. I love how they didn't want to use it but feel the need to bastardize it. Like that Ahsoka series looks like an Heir to the Empire bastardization.
What would really crack me up would be to see Rey being a grumpy hermit on an island who has given up, and then wait for the critics to call it brilliant and subversive.

Same. I hope it fails and Disney sells Star Wars. I’m currently reading the last book of the New Jedi Order series. What is crazy is that they could’ve had their own canon while doing some Disney plus only animated adaptations of EU content like how DC made animated movies. I guess the one problem that may arise is that those stories would be enjoyed more than the movies.
I'm honestly so glad that early shitballs like Cpt Marvel and TLJ showed me just how much effort was put into making good movies vs defending dumb choices. Saved me going on a decade of movie tickets and online forum debates, more fun just talking to regular people without the lens of mass media goyslop.

Yeah it was weird as there was a slight glimmer with Rogue one (especially with the final battle and Vader appearance) but they blew it all with that film onwards.
Do you know what really got me? It was the solo film, there's this absolutely epic war scene and it's like it's a completely different version of Star Wars compared to the crap they've been pulling.

Then it all goes downhill of course into SJW tropes. The Mandalorian was the same initially until the woke mob got to it and cancelled Gina Carano. So much potential just thrown out the fucking window for virtue signal points. It's possible and even dare I post easy to make good sci-fi these days with the software and tech available you just need somebody who isn't woke and has the balls to stay that way.
Oh yeah it's REALLY easy to make a good sci fi, the 'fantasy tech' is no longer an issue to come up with do to it being explored enough, what you need the focus to be on story and character development.
There's a reason Star Wars, Star Trek are falling down the tubes yet Gundam is so strong because they have a sci fi setting but focus on character development and political intrigue.

Something I can't help but keep on noticing with these woke films is how trash the overall production value keeps getting and they cut so many corners it's ridiculous. The little mermaid one still really gets to me because that should have been an easy sell for special effects and instead they just stuck the actress in a mermaid outfit and sat her in an obvious studio under a spotlight.
You know like with the last jedi or whatever fucking movie it was with old Luke Skywalker they're going to spend half the movie sitting on an island somewhere vaguely acting instead of it being remotely interesting and they'll throw in a few internal spaceship assets to make it look like a 'sci-fi' movie and not just a corpoate woke drama with the star wars skin slapped onto it.
It really does beg the question because I could make a fucking better movie than any of that trash, where is the money going? This was always the case before but methinks Disney in particular might be involved in money laundering or some other shadiness because there's no other reason they'd be happy failing consistently otherwise.

The difference between Rey and Ahsoka is that Ahsoka is actually a beloved character in the Star Wars universe. Years of clone wars plus Rebels endeared her to the audience.

From what I hear about the upcoming show it sounds like a bastardized version of Heir to the Empire with her doing what Luke did.
