No one from Kotaku is in any position to be commenting on others' "professional standing."
I can never remember if they're the ones who were sticking gaming accessories in their orifices or if that was Polygon.
I thought that was The Gamer. Or was that the tranny that ranted on Hogwarts, whose only other work was sex toy reviews?
Well I do know one of them did do an article on Harry Potter porn games at one point.
It was Vice. https://archive.is/NUUcK
Which device? Anything that rumbles has an article about someone trying it out.
For me they’ll always be the ones who proclaimed “not all women have vaginas!” This was back in 2013, before the rest of the world apparently decided this was true.
Square Enix did the same thing to Kotaku after it bitched about the “lack of diversity” in FFXVI.
Hopefully this starts a trend of Japanese publishers telling “games journalists” to fuck off.
Imagine how much better the industry would be if developers enforced a rule about leaving politics out of the reviews. Good faith criticism of the mechanics and story is one thing, but giving them free copies so they can call the devs bigots is retarded.
It fucking sucks to admit, but there is such a thing as rage playing. People automatically get turned on to the idea of playing something that was hated by the wrong people. Blacklisting them can weirdly diminish their marketing, which sucks... because they totally do deserve the ban.
Square Enix still censored the Resident Evil remakes however. So they aren't really falling them off...
... What?
They're so powerful they can effect another company's franchise
I too miss the days Tifa's tits were that big they had their own gravity wells.
Wait, are we not talking about that? 👀
We are now
I don't really remember them being too crazy in most of her iterations. Pretty sure she was pretty tame in Advent Children and ff7 original... well, you're gonna need an imagination for that to work. The only real time I remember was Dissidia 2. Mama jama! And you can't forget the crazy short skirt. Lord have mercy.
Those bastards can't keep getting away with censoring people's games! shakes fist
That's Capcom, not Square Enix. SE is the one that released Forspoken.
Pick one.
Top Kek 2: Highway to the Coping Zone
Reminds me of those fucking mobile games claiming to have BILLIONS of accounts made.
Note: 99.99% of the accounts are bots.
I mean it's what happened for gearbox. They did the whole "release only on epic games" bullshit, their entire steam playerbase took offense to it and started boycotting/mass-downvoting their other games, and since then you're lucky to not find 3 massively on sale.
"fReE sPeEcH dOeSn'T pRoTeCt YoU fRoM cOnSeQuEnCe!" That's what you leftist assholes always say.
Imagine the audacity required to turn “we weren’t invited to cover a video game” into a freedom-of-the-press flashpoint while actual journalists are being targeted by western governments.
"You must fund my business, which is to shit on your product"
....
not only implying millions of readers
but millions of readers who ONLY read kotaku and wouldn't check a hundred other competing news feeds for information about a game they care about enough to be devastated if they couldn't gleam scraps from kotaku
Oh boy more articles like
"I received my copy of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom today. I set it beside my dilator - today was going to be a difficult day. As I struggle with depression, I think back to times when Zelda games were able to console my budding sexuality. Perhaps this time would be different?" -Some artsy dumbass who somehow got a job at Kotaku #87
So, aside from kotaku being just awful, what specifically got them blacklisted by Nintendo?
No points for guessing.
See, I think being able to play the game on my beastly gaming rig is a selling point. I might try this with Tears of the Kingdom, if it's viable. It's a pity I can't just get some sort of adapter to run the game off the original cartridge, but I understand why Nintendo doesn't want that to exist.
My limited understanding is they wrote some of their usual bullshit but aimed it at Nintendo for not being diverse or woke enough or something in some of their reviews of Nintendo games, so rather than artificially souring the market based on that leading up to a game’s launch, Nintendo has been flipping them the bird ever since with sending them anything, prerelease or otherwise.
Kotaku would have just said that it’s still a regressive game for not making Zelda the lead or Link black or something. And that the only person of color in the whole game is usually the villain.
This just shows you that no one understands the concepts of "professionalism" (which we know they think is fascist/white-supremacist), nor "coercion" (because they don't think mass injections by gubernatorial fiat aren't coercive).
Haha Ethan, ha ha son. Ha ha Ethan, come on everyone!
Meanwhile, YouTubers are being invited to come play the demo and report of glitches that were patched and how the new mechanics feel.
I think more places should blacklist Kotaku.
They don't even pretend to care about games, so why should companies that make games even pretend that they exist?
It's also their right as a company. Deal with it commie
I forget why they were blacklisted. Only thing I remember was someone leaking Fallout 4 shit early, but that might be unrelated.
Oh no, that suuuuuuucks.
Correction (not on you OP, but on the original tweet), They aren't blacklisted, Kotaku is just not whitelisted. They have exactly the same level of access as the rest of the general public.
What was that shit they used to say? "When you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppresion."
Everything your company does is unprofessional and coercive.
I can promise you that everybody who is on the fence about Zelda has someone in their social circle who will be buying it already and will word of mouth it to them if they should.
Kotaku, even if it was Bizarro world amazingly professional and informative, is completely redundant to this game's marketing. As are almost all games journos. Their only function is for Metacritic scores (since companies retardedly use them as metrics) and providing laugh tracks for video essays about the game.
