This is one of the things I'm having trouble understanding lately. The West is doing everything but go head to head with Russia. Their guys are saying its dangerous, our guys are saying its dangerous, and nobody seems to care! Redditors acted like a bad cold was an extinction level event and claim global warming will kill us all. And yet here we are looking at the possibility of a real nuclear exchange all and the people who are into current thing don't seem to realize it.

I'll say it: a nuclear exchange seems more likely today than to was during all but the tensest parts of the cold war. Why? Because no one seems to think it a real possibility. And Americans are getting sloppy.

Because no one seems to think it a real possibility. And Americans are getting sloppy.

I'm reminded of Fahrenheit 451. Hedonistic population engages in pointless consumerism and escapes into media and other trifles, all the while bombers soar overhead to parts unknown and you'd miss the lines mentioning them if you weren't paying attention. The book ends in nuclear holocaust.

It's the same pattern as every war. We fired on three german u-boats before Pearl Harbor. Even moving the pacific fleet to hawaii was seen as a massive provocation by many. Anything to provoke a 'fear bite' from the target we can use to justify total war.

We fired on the uboats because the Germans kept sinking ships with Americans on them

They don't believe it is possible because there has never been consequences for their actions. These warhawks are all sheltered pussies.

It's a dangerous game. The media went full retard proclaiming that we must do anything and everything to help Ukraine and the good little lemmings rushed to put up their Ukraine flags and declared it the new cause de jour but now what?

The people "in charge" most likely assumed that arming Ukraine would just prolong the conflict a bit and give Russia a bloody nose, but now that Russia is actually on the ropes and the west keeps pouring weapons into Ukraine we've quickly blown by bloody nose and have created an existential threat to Russia that could lead to the use of Nuclear weapons. The "adults in the room" now can't pump the breaks because our state-run media has convinced the lemmings that even suggesting peace talks or any off-ramp is tantamount to treason and makes someone a Putin puppet.

I guess in clown world if the world ends by way of nuclear fire caused directly by idiotic virtue signaling it would be somewhat fitting.

Which is kind of what I was trying to say. If the US has no endgame, that is concerning. When it comes to a nuclear exchange, an endgame is not really required on both sides. Or at all.

Putin said the West was playing what he cast as a "dangerous, bloody and dirty" geopolitical game that was sowing chaos across the world.

I'm embarrassed to say how long I spent trying to figure out what a "dirt game" is.

Putin meant that Western leaders spend more time playing race games than actually solving problems.

Putin took over a brothel of a country and made it a superpower, western leaders are whoring themselves to the Kagan family. To quote someone you know "SAD" .

I've actually applied to jobs in Russia lots. I'd love to live there.

I've been there on vacation. Was a nice enough place, crime was a bit high, but so was crime in New York or Chicago when I went there, too, and plenty of people live in those places willingly.

The people I actually interacted with were all quite pleasant, even the border security curmudgeony old ladies were about friendliness you'd expect from border guards, no worse at all.

But the premise of your argument is incorrect: China is an emergent superpower, doesn't mean I'd want to live there, and even if I viewed it as "on par" with where I am now, I'd need to learn a new language, new occupation, new housing, it'd be a huge hassle if it were only "on par" with another world superpower.

Is there any stronger indicator of acting in bad faith than starting a post with "LOL,"? In all caps like that it makes me think a Fellow Kid typed it.

in the post debate era, people like this have to over rely on childish snark to hide a lack of intelligence

Finished what? Invading? Warmongering? Succeeding? Dying? Growing?

It doesn't seem to be ceasing to exist, which is the normal use of the term "they are finished", so you need to finish your sentence.

That is what we are all worried about. From the start of the war I made the point that if Putin loses badly he would resort to nuclear as a F*** You, he would not go the way of Hitler. I still fear that. Maybe CIA will get him assassinated but who knows.

I remember the confident claims that Russia's economy would face a 1998 or 1991-level collapse. Now it's Germany facing such a collapse.

Turns out, the regime grossly overestimated itself.

people expected the sanctions to be a lot worse than they actually were, which is why the ruble crashed then rapidly recovered once everyone saw how limp dick the sanctions were.

Honestly I think most likely it will cause an economical crash, the leadership will change with some CIA puppet and then economy will get back to normal.
