And this isn't just about a single game being woke. They're bringing down the entire DRM-free concept the GOG store is based on. I used to be a fan since long ago, and I've seen it creep in steadily. DRM, Wokeness, silencing dissent. Needless to say, I haven't given them any money since I noticed it..
Most of the games are still DRM-free, thankfully. There's been a couple attempts at trying to promoto the launcher over "backups", and having Online "bonuses", and such, but that part is still okay. For now. The wokeness is all over the place though, so it's probably only a matter of time, and it's a damn shame.
GoG is actually down right now so I can't even get the game I paid for a while back. Sad times. :(

Legit, I’m just glad I can play older stuff in between waiting few and far between for new releases. Although one good new release is Stray if you’re into playing puzzle games as a cat with a robot friend.

Games are dying? Could have fooled me, considering that I am still spoiled for choice on new games. AAA games are dying, though, I will give you that. But much like how you have the likes of Eric July showing up the comic industry, you can have other people making their own games showing up the AAA studios. Except the indie game scene is even larger than the indie comic scene. And at least from my view has a majority of them being people either politically neutral and/or just interested in a good game with reasonable narratives.
In games it’s not that uncommon for high turnover after a game ships…. The red flags are high turnover during production. Like naughty dog during the last of us 2.
This makes less sense if your studio is blowing up like CDPR was after Witcher. You shouldn’t be losing the majority of your team while multiplying it by 10.
They weren’t blowing up until after the Witcher 3. Cyberpunk was at some scale of production by 2012 since that’s when mike pondsmith started consulting even if the majority of developers didn’t hop on until 2016. If you had an awful time in the project and crunched as much as they likely did. Jumping ship for more pay after it goes gold isn’t that shocking. cdpr is one of the highest paying places to work in Poland. But their pay is still significantly lower than that of studios in Germany, France, Sweden, or the uk, us or Canada.
CDPR didn't blow up after Witcher. Witcher 1 was a buggy mess and only the EE made it barely playable. To fans of RPGs.
Only W2 made it get any bigger notoriety (AA level) and it exploded with W3 (AAA).
