This makes less sense if your studio is blowing up like CDPR was after Witcher. You shouldn’t be losing the majority of your team while multiplying it by 10.
They weren’t blowing up until after the Witcher 3. Cyberpunk was at some scale of production by 2012 since that’s when mike pondsmith started consulting even if the majority of developers didn’t hop on until 2016. If you had an awful time in the project and crunched as much as they likely did. Jumping ship for more pay after it goes gold isn’t that shocking. cdpr is one of the highest paying places to work in Poland. But their pay is still significantly lower than that of studios in Germany, France, Sweden, or the uk, us or Canada.
CDPR didn't blow up after Witcher. Witcher 1 was a buggy mess and only the EE made it barely playable. To fans of RPGs.
Only W2 made it get any bigger notoriety (AA level) and it exploded with W3 (AAA).
So you are comparing a generic RPG from 2007 (W1) to Cyberpunk (2020). 13 years.
