The most likely scenario is that the units splinter when ordered to fire on their own people. I'm sure there are still decent members in the rank and file that would refuse such orders. That's why they're trying to fill the ranks with wokists. A Syria type situation is pretty likely depending on how effective they are at rooting out anyone with a moral compass. You also have to keep in mind that there are combat trained vets who would rise to the occasion in such a scenario.
All the good ones are leaving from what I hear. The ones who would be joining are being told not to even bother by their older relatives who served.
I can vouch for the latter. Military family going back generations and every single living relative who was in wouldn't recommend joining. That would've been unheard of even a decade ago.
