I'm not even sure it is poorly done for attention on her part. It is possible she is just an average Hollywood narcissist that craves drama and attention.

In the 70's there were many such "parodies" and everyone knew what they were now they do the same thing but pretend its stunning and brave.

a parody may work but I doubt it would be allowed today, it would have to play in to stereotypes like sassy black lady and gangster rap. It could be great but the current culture would not allow it.
