Climate Cultists: The world is going end if we don't switch to lithium batteries for everything.

Also Climate Cultists: Mining lithium is going to end the world.

From a power perspective, it is very convenient for everything to be world ending to justify seizing control of everything, much like how everything being racist always justifies the creation of more commissars.

When leftist policies create rolling blackouts in first world countries, leftists don't complain. Because the blackouts aren't the problem. Peasants living in the first world is the problem.

They don't care if the peasants live or die. Progressives have this cynical conception of power with the oppressor/oppressed dynamic, as opposed to a proper heirarchy where both the ruled and the rulers have duties and obligations to each other, so progressives act out the role of the exploitative oppressor. As long as they can enrich themselves and expand their power, the consequences of policy on the lower classes is irrelevant to the progressive elite.

You'd think the Chilean people would have learned this lesson last time.

Nope. That society needs free helicopter rides at least every 2 generations.

That society

Every society needs free helicopter rides whenever the population of domestic enemies begins to rise. Chile was lucky enough to actually get them, and they squandered the opportunity.

Anger boiled over into huge protests starting in 2019. A national referendum followed, electing a diverse panel to rewrite the constitution.

On Dec. 19 came another turning point. Voters elected Gabriel Boric, a 35-year-old former student activist, as president. He had campaigned to expand the social safety net, increase mining royalties and taxes, and create a national lithium company.

This is going to be a shit show of epic proportions.

oh good, now just start shorting chilean currency.

for reference, the venezuelan government promised nationalization of oil just like these extremists are promising of chile's natural resources.

now venezuelans are literally eating garbage.

Believe it or not, I researched moving to Chile once. It had nice freedoms, but it seemed most of the people didn't seem to want the freedoms they had. It turns out that concern was justified. Of course, it's hard to say if this election was rigged or not. Socialists always cheat. Also, Chile has a mass immigration problem from other Latin American countries too.

Truth is, no one actually wants freedom.

Humans are social animals, and insticively desire someone to order them around.

Chilean Socialists are rewriting the country's constitution because they can, the cause isn't relevant.

Let this also be a lesson: right-wing authoritarianism, in it's best case, is nothing more than a reprieve from leftism. Authoritarianism of any form always leaves an avenue of attack.

When you also consider that leftism in the West uses rights/freedoms as an avenue of attack, you’re not really saying much. Leftism will use whatever it can to expand its power and reach.

Sounds like a force of evil.

That's because it is. A philosophy of War exists with no principle than to seize power is nearly indistinguishable from evil.

Monarchy and theocracy are the answer to this.

Permanent systems tied to the nation that cant be voted out and have legitimacy in the eyes of the people, making revolutions unlikely as well.

Completely back-asswards and wrong.

Theocracy doesn't work because the institutions themselves are hives of progressive authoritarinism and corruption. This is the kind of bullshit that caused the Reformation in the first place. Best of all, it flies in the face of your own design. Theocracy has no obligation to any nation. Just to God. And it just so happens that the guy at the top of the Theocracy knows what God thinks, and God said your fat, so your whole family gets to die for defying God. Everyone is the children of God, so every nation is obligated to obey the guy who talks with God, and so you get yet another internationalist institution that is unaccountable to everyone and has unlimited authority. Which, inevitably generates Leftism.

Your plan is the old, "The Catholics will save us!" routine and they are the ones who invented the very concept of Social Justice itself.

Additionally, you also clearly don't live in the US, because we exist because the crown was shown to be utterly illegitimate along with the British parliament.

Parliament had unlimited power to do whatever it wanted, Americans were declared not to be English because they weren't in England and thus had no English rights, Parliament was just asserted to represent the interests of Americans because Parliament existed ("Virtual Representation"), and when the King was asked for a reprieve against the abuses of the parliament, his answer was that he would hunt down and kill everyone.

Under an autocratic system, revolutions are mandatory. Once you have that much unaccountable power, the only way to make the King listen is to start killing his army, his dukes, his nobles, his kids, and inevitably him. As Cromwell showed, you can't replace him either.

Not to mention, those autocratic and dynastic systems end up inevitably tied to their own internationalist autocracy of ruling elite. The idea of monarchies tied to nations is fucking absurd, and would have been absurd to everyone living under monarchies. The English monarchs have been Scottish, English, French and German at varying times. The Hapsburgs, the most powerful of all European monarchies, were their own globalist international aristocracy as they were never tied to any of the nations that they governed, and were famous for having had to speak multiple languages just to govern their own kingdoms.

If monarchies and theocracies were stable, the muslim world should be a bastion of peace and tranquility, but it hasn't been that way since Islam started because theocracies and monarchies do not create stability, they institutionalize fragility as perpetual petty wars break out, until a larger winning side bowls over everyone, muders huge swathes of people to gain power, and then the petty wars start up again. Ask the Umayyad Caliphate how their theocracy is doing. Oh wait, they were destroyed, and so were their successors.

Only a Republican system can generate long-term stability and liberty.

The NYT tries to spin this as being about its 'climate catastrophe'. But all of the article seems to be about legitimate conservation issues and the damage done by lithium mining to create batteries.

Also, check out this rank propaganda:

The climate consequences of losing Build Back Better. Without the legislation’s climate provisions, the United States appears very unlikely to hit President Biden’s targets for greenhouse gas reductions.

You failed to answer the question. Why must the constitution be changed to solve this problem? Does the constitution define brine?

This happens everytime you let people spoil their children instead of making them work for everything. Commies never experienced a day of hardship in their lives until they were either almost adults or in college, then suddenly, everything must burn because it's too difficult.
