When people keep doing it when you explain why archives are better it's just not worth the bother.

I recall reading an article talking about how the food companies started to bring in psychologists around that time. Iirc Betty Crocker or some such company had a cake mix but it wasn't selling well. The psych figures out there basically wasn't anything for the women using the mix to do. You just combined the stuff in the box, put it in the oven, and bam it was done. The effort and work that went into cake making was a large part of what made it enjoyable for the women baking. Using the mix wasn't enjoyable and so sales suffered.

Coincidentally, cake decorating became a huge thing at the same time. Funny, that.

As an aside, I think a similar thing is at work with TV dinners. I doubt actually taking them out of the microwave half way through to r o t a t e the meat 5° does a single thing, but hey it probably feels to enough people like they're doing something. We've willed away effort through the magic of technology and so have to make do with these surrogate activities.

It'd be a redflag if I (being in the US) ran into a le based right-wing woman tbh. Like, think about it, you run into a woman, hit it off, and oh she claims she's read Kaczynski. Oh, she totally of her own volition and somehow on her own came to the conclusion that suffrage was a mistake? Yes tell me more about clown world.

Such a woman in the US is either a basket case or a fed. She would be someone to stay as far away from as possible for your own safety.

What's that one tweet you see floating around of that dissident right winger texting his gf/wife? I can't find it since Elon put the log-in rules in but it's basically

>Her: I saw [insert political thing], should I be worried?

>Him: Don't worry about it babe.

>Her: Okay~ ❤️

That's as much of a green flag as you'll probably find.

Fwiw, my extended family and their contacts are rife with vets and not a single one recommends joining up. Doesn't matter the branch, they all actively advise against joining.

"Rockstar?" I can't think of one. That said, singer Edie Brickell did have a minor hit in the late 80s with her group and has been doing this and that since then. Ended up marrying Paul Simon and, amazingly, they've stayed married for decades despite the huge age gap.

Not a rockstar but has been in the music business and, despite not getting into the production or A&R side like a lot of musicians did, seems to have had a decent life path.

If they're on social media, probably.

On the whole "tradwives" are a meme as far as I'm concerned. The young rightist's sexual fantasy, no different from the young leftist's bigtiddygothgf

I don't think anyone alive today know what "trad" is and what many think is "trad" - a SAHM, dad as sole breadwinner, 2.5 kids, etc. Is an imagining of a 1950s lifestyle that was only possible when the US was at its apex. I couldn't tell you what trad is but I'd say it's more multi-generational households, cottage industry, etc. per what Mary Harrington et al. have written on the topic. Most peoples' experience before the Industrial Revolution utterly wrecked community and human interrelation

Edit: I guess the Mennonites or Amish would be the closest groups I could think of that're the closest thing to "trad" today.

We grew up (well, my age demo did anyway) in the "ashes of civilization" and many, myself included, did not have the blessing to have or see good, stable families in our most formative years. Putting aside the existence of some who intentionally make social practices like marriage seem utterly miserable, we shouldn't be surprised they write what they do because what other experience do they have?

I couldn't tell you what makes a good marriage but thankfully I do know they exist because I see them every time I go to my parish. I wouldn't have said this ten years ago!

Talk of "reform" is inherently limiting. We only hear of reforming this law, reforming that institution. Never on the table is the question of whether this law or that institution is needed.

🤷‍♂️ not my problem. I feel pretty Nick Land about troons in these spaces

I thought it was pretty obvious tbh.

The game is still fun though and is unintentionally based because imho it's our institutions and their values taken to their logical conclusions.

In these sorts of places they'll be your typical boomercon type of conservative at best. If they're more inclined to dissidence my guess is they'd be the last to let you know. That's how it is in my case. As far as people know I'm an NPR listening PBS watching scrub. What would be called a Blue Dog Democrat in earlier times.

These places are odd in that even though they're in solidly conservative areas, someone that'd be in a place like kia2 would be solidly behind enemy lines, not too dissimilar from how it probably is along the coasts.

In this respect, I'm glad I mainly know boomers and gen X'ers. In some respects this is it's own hell but I don't have to experience picrel on the daily lol

I will forever be suspended because I spoke out against the troons under the previous regime. Salty because this goes against Elon's proclamation but to be honest, I'm better off

Tried it. Didn't work. At least nitter is functional for the moment.

Right for the wrong reasons. The comic artist is talking about the environment but I of course see things like "the Pill", the Internet, etc. If I had to pick between social relations and intact families or the endless bounty technology has given us I'd pick the former. With the proviso I do have the privilege to say that because of the bounties of technology.

Supports providing more funding and weapons to Ukraine

>52% less likely to vote for a presidential candidate based on this characteristic

Gotta get those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers!
