Multiple Stabbings and Shots Fired at Popular Portland Street Fair: Police Refuse to Give Any Information (They Don't Work on Sunday) (web.archive.org)

A heavy police presence descended on the street fair quickly, Dublin said, but as of Sunday morning the Portland Police Bureau has released no information about what led to the panic. No spokesperson for the bureau works on Sundays, and no one from the bureau has responded to a request for information on Sunday morning.

I can't get over this part. What the fuck?

Dublin said she spoke with a security guard at the event and learned that a stabbing followed by at least one gunshot sparked the fear and confusion, although she said she did not hear a gunshot. A man with a stab wound snaked through the crowd, fleeing medical attention, she said. Police then cordoned off streets near the fair.

Landsverk and Baker said the commotion happened near the stage closer to 8:05 p.m., not 7:45 p.m. Two other people near the street fair who did not want their names published separately said they heard at least 10 gunshots around 8:15 p.m., and it wasn’t clear if those were connected to the earlier incident.

Carey Deza, treasurer of the Historic Mississippi Business Association that operates the fair, said Sunday she had no information about the incident.

“The whole rest of the day was great,” Deza said.

So one of the reasons I'm posting this is because I was at this event, it is a popular street fair in one of the few 'safe' areas of the city. The reason this journalist and the police are straight up lying about what happened is because the local journos are trying to pretend lots of violence in 'safer' areas isn't happening.

There was probably 30-40 shots fired and I personally saw two people bleeding from stab wounds. It was something gang related. It is so bizarre to see the police and journalist both minimalize what happened (a STAMPEDE OF PEOPLE fleeing gunfire) and even quote the organizer saying that everything is fine.

From one faceless forum user to another, I am glad you are alright, or at least not physically harmed. If you are not planning an exit strategy already from the greater Portland area, I would recommend at least thinking on it.

If I may ask, how do you know it was gang related?

They pop off a ton of rounds and don't hit anybody.

That is a fair assessment.

It is hard to shoot a target, let alone a moving human, but considering the volume of rounds, you think they would at least hit someone.

Unless it is more of a "look how strong we are, be afraid" performance, like two primitive tribes screaming insults and throwing rocks at each other from opposite sides of a river, both groups knowing that the chances of actual bloodshed are slim as they are relatively safe but feeling compelled to make an effort anyway.

Let's be real: Gangbangers don't know how to use fucking iron sights, much less proper grip.

Wasn't it Rhodesia where captured weapons were found with the sights dialed all the way up because they thought it made the gun shoot harder?

That's been the case in every African war/civil war since... the Congo in the early 60s?

Glad you are ok, and appreciate the info on it.

I suspect that gangs will fill the void left by police even more in the future.

So is Portland so compromised that there's no longer any 'safe' areas anymore?

Usually in cities the richer districts have enough of a police presence to dissuade people from starting issues. Is there such a breakdown that even that has gone and we're better just Arkham City walling the entire city in?

The question is... are there any rich areas left in portland? If you're rich why would you stay in portland?

The rich areas are the suburbs. Nothing left inside the city.

Leftist cities aren't safe, unless you're in a gated community (assuming you don't have cucks that open the gates)

Most people are pulling their conferences from Portland, we've lost a ton of trade shows and events over the past few years.

That's "good" news but I'm doubtful mine will do that. Apparently a year or so before I got into my line of work this same org barred Texan cities from hosting because of LGBT nonsense.

Had actual things come up that made me miss a recent one and I was glad as most of the seminars were woke nonsense.

LGBT nonsense is bad, but rioters burning down the city is just fine. Logic!

This isn’t at all like the TV show Portlandia.

Random stabbings and shootings are not part of "Keeping Portland weird"? Kinda feels in character to me.
