From 0-100 real fucking quick.
Lol. 0-100. Sure. Discounting the 40% ownership by Tencent, the terrible Epic Store with it's guaranteed sales bribes and forced exclusives, the ridiculous amount of MTX skins, the fact that a huge number of the MTX skins are little more than ads for CURRENT BRAND, Epic doing stuff like in-game "anti-racist" videos, and more. Fortnite and Epic have both been trash for years. The only thing I'm surprised about is that this didn't happen sooner.
And yet, the Twitter sidebar (at least for me) includes some garbage about Juneteenth and about how black kids are still traumatized by the grocery store shooting in Buffalo.
Where is the conversation about what drove this nutjob to stop his car, grab a hatchet (I'm sorry, Assault Axe) and charge a cop on the side of the road?
Fair enough, there may be. I've got a batch file that I just run on a new machine that does it so I haven't had to look for alternate means, but regardless the fact that there isn't just an easily accessible switch with options "search local files only" or "search local files and web" is just terrible design (from a user PoV, from a "M$ harvesting your data point of view it's a great idea)
(begins channeling inner grognard)
Or just set it to hidden because there's 0 reason to have a search bar or button on the taskbar. If you want to do a web search, I can 100% guarantee you have a browser window open, and if you want to do a local search just press the windows key and start typing. (As for Microsoft making it so the start menu search does both local and web searches, well the people involved with that should be banned from ever working on anything computer related again, but at least some registry edits can turn it off)
(ends grognard mode)
Thing he's finding out is that the West's lack of military production for decades is causing huge problems. The US produces a little over 2000 Javelin anti-tank missiles per year. Lockheed recently said they want to double that to 4000 per year.
Zelensky wants people to send Ukraine 500 Javelins per day. One aspect of this equation is not sustainable.
It baffles me how many people in my industry (IT) want unions. Bitch you want more money and less stress, just go get a better employer. Stop being a pushover.
So they're extra dumb because virtually every IT and CS employer I've had contact with over the past year or more is desperately trying to find people. Had a guy at an ISP up here say a month ago he could double his staff overnight if he found qualified people. Had two guys e-mail me in the last week asking if I knew any of my former students who were looking for work, because they wanted people to hire.
If you're in a tech related field, and you're not happy with your current job (and competent), spend 5 minutes searching online and you'll almost certainly find people who would love to talk to you about jobs.
Boris Johnson's spokesman says the Prime Minister will transform the NHS into "a blockbuster health care system in the age of Netflix."
I'm sorry, what? Given what happened to Blockbuster, is Johnson saying he's going to destroy the NHS? I mean, there's better ways to do health care, sure, but that can't have been the intended meaning there
AOC is, as usual, lying by misdirection.
No, she's just lying outright, unless there's a newer link with big changes.
CBS news - deadliest cities in the US - archive link here, but mostly useless due to slideshow
#10 - Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Governor, Tony Evers, D
#9 - Albuquerque, New Mexico. Michelle Lujan Grisham, D
#8 - Stockton, California. Gavin Newsome, D
#6 - Cleveland, Ohio (tie) - Mike DeWine, R
#6 - Little Rock, Arkansas (tie) - Asa Hutchinson, R
#5 - Springfield, Missouri - Mike Parson, R
#4 - Baltimore, Maryland - Larry Hogan, R
#3 - Memphis, Tennessee - Bill Lee, R
#2 - St. Louis, Missouri - see #5
#1 - Detroit, Michigan - Gretchen Whitmer, D
So, 4 out of 10 have D governors and I believe every single governor on this list was governor when CBS news published the list in 2020. If you add in #11 and #12, both in CA, then it's 6 out of 12 have D governors.
Thanks for the link. However, that just strengthens my initial suspicion that the original video is nothing more than a made-up click bait video. The term pro-nature gets used like a dozen times in the span of 30 seconds, as if it was some major announcement, even though a source is not available.
As for the fireflies, nothing was taken out of the game. They had planned to add fireflies, there was community feedback (crazy feedback IMO, but feedback nonetheless) on a planned (or maybe beta) addition saying "don't add this!", and the devs said "OK, we'll add something else". Isn't that what we want devs to be doing?
The lines that follow "God is dead" in his writing, if anyone is interested in them and doesn't know them:
How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?
Why is Nuland behind all this stuff?
