No one who gets a W2 is surprised by this. Over 1/5 of my income went to federal, state and local taxes and witholdings. And that figure is even higher if you go down the road of factoring in the payroll taxes which companies have to pay for you before it even shows up in your W2s.

Lets be honest, they did not make a historical accurate movie. They are not going to allow the all women fighters fight for slavery not against it. Also they are not going to show them as the incompetent bafoons that they were.

Not sure what the exact timeframe of the movie is, but I'm betting they'll also leave out the Battle of Adégon, where the French launched a bayonet charge at a Dahomey force consisting primarily of Agojie. Over 500 Dahomey died, over 400 of which were women. 6 French died.

Well, if Reuters is to be believed and the right and "anti-immigration Sweden Democrats" are the two parties with the most votes hopefully they actually start fixing the "migrant" problem. Don't know if I'll hold my breath for it though

I refuse to believe that anyone could say "by wearing the school uniform casually" in a non-satire section. But, then, overestimating crazies on the internet almost never works out/

But they're perfectly fine if you say "you ain't black if you don't want the spicy nuggets!"

Yep, you're right this time. She's actually saying that vigilante serial killers need to be killing young white men.

TBF, there wasn't much mourning after Floyd. Rather than mourning they decided they wanted free TVs

Ouch. That seems worse than usual. Maybe 1 in 5 of them even mentioning the bill, most are just "republican man bad!"

That was Nicholas Sandmann. Last I heard (and based on what I can find online) Rittenhouse was claiming he was going to sue the media, and raising money for it, but I can't find anything about lawsuits being filed much less settled.

The whole "trans rights are human rights" thing is among the most annoying of the slogans IMO, because the things they are claiming as "rights" do not extend to anyone else. Do I have the "right" to enter any space I want? Do I have the "right" to compel speech from anyone I want? Do I have the "right" to punish anyone I want for making me upset? No? So why are those considered "rights" for these mentally ill lunatics?

This is nothing new at all, and definitely not dreamed up by that bank CEO. This is just yet another flavor of "you do bad stuff, therefore banks need to stop doing business with you!" We've seen it multiple times - banks freezing the Trucker Protest funds, payment processors refusing to to do business with people, Patreon and Paypal freezing "problematic" accounts, and more. It goes back to at least Obama's Operation Choke Point which began officially in 2013, and was being dreamed up as early as 2010 (though, I would be shocked if government officials were not trying to get it in place earlier than that).

This is where I come down on this.

On the one hand, there was no longer any threat to legally justify self defense.

But, despite a number of twitter users saying "well, what if there was a reason for the punch?" (including one nutjob saying "well, what if the black shirt guy raped the white shirt guy's daughter?!"), coming up behind someone and bashing him in the head is not justifiable either. And we all know there is minimal chance that the cops would have gone after the puncher (unless they could frame it as a racial thing)

That's your problem, right there.

For a time they had some publishers signed on (it was years back, so I don't really recall what it was, but I know I bought non-Stardock stuff on it).

Then it got bought out by or sold off to Gamestop and that was time to Nope out.

GoG is a better competitor than EGS (and before you start with "But GoG did XXX which proves them in league with Big Feminism(tm), Epic is just as bad if not worse on that front). The only thing EGS has going for it is the periodic free games subsidized with their Fortnite and Tencent money (and even that is of marginal utility IMO since there's already way more games than time out there and a free game you don't really care about is just a waste).

The EGS launcher has been repeatedly shown to be scanning other files on your computer, showing that is at least capable of being spyware, and has ridiculous resource usage (on a good day it's several times what Steam or Galaxy use, and I've seen screenshots of the launcher using north of 5 gigs of RAM)

EGS does not allow even numeric user reviews (just taking them from other online critic sites) or user comments.

EGS still does not have any gifting functionality.

EGS (I believe?) still does not have built-in screenshot functionality

EGS took over 2 years to add foreign currency support

EGS is still continuing with their practice of literal bribery to force timed exclusives on their store.

None of the above are issues for Steam (even though they have been trending towards "correcting" review scores for controversial titles). None of the above are issues for GoG (on newer games. Screenshots are still iffy on some older titles which don't support the Galaxy overlay), and GoG has the advantage of the DRM-free downloads.

There is 0 reason to use EGS.

Go ask brad wardell to make a fucking competitor: https://twitter.com/draginol

I still miss Impulse. Was actually the first digital game store I used, even before Steam.

Feels like it's time to quote Chief Hanlon from Fallout: New Vegas

Back west, you don't see too many of these. Lakes, I mean. Natural or man-made. Any kind, really. We neglected the dams or pumped all the water out a long time ago. Owens, Isabella, the San Luis. Drained the aquifers of everything they had. Just a lot of mud and dust now.

That's why I just shake my head at the people in the US - especially the conservatives - who keep saying we need a convention of states to revisit the constitution. If it ever happens, there is a <1% chance it will actually be an improvement and a >99% chance it will just end up adding in a bunch of lefty "compromises"

This. Amazon doesn't care if you're legitimately watching or hatewatching their stuff. A watch is a watch.

Like - would you care to elaborate on what that Oath entailed and its consequences over the next five or so centuries, Guyladriel? Or how the Noldor got all those ships in the first place?

Tears unnumbered ye shall shed; and the Valar will fence Valinor against you, and shut you out, so that not even the echo of your lamentation shall pass over the mountains. On the House of Fëanor the wrath of the Valar lieth from the West unto the uttermost East, and upon all that will follow them it shall be laid also. Their Oath shall drive them, and yet betray them, and ever snatch away the very treasures that they have sworn to pursue. To evil end shall all things turn that they begin well; and by treason of kin unto kin, and the fear of treason, shall this come to pass. The Dispossessed shall they be for ever. Ye have spilled the blood of your kindred unrighteously and have stained the land of Aman. For blood ye shall render blood, and beyond Aman ye shall dwell in Death's shadow. For though Eru appointed to you to die not in Eä, and no sickness may assail you, yet slain ye may be, and slain ye shall be: by weapon and by torment and by grief; and your houseless spirits shall come then to Mandos. There long shall ye abide and yearn for your bodies, and find little pity though all whom ye have slain should entreat for you. And those that endure in Middle-earth and come not to Mandos shall grow weary of the world as with a great burden, and shall wane, and become as shadows of regret before the younger race that cometh after. The Valar have spoken.

I'll agree a surplus of single men is probably detrimental to society. But, rather than getting them killed perhaps the larger question should be what has happened in society to create a surplus of single men. Otherwise it will just happen again.
