It is amazing how much they screwed the pooch with recruitment. The military pretty much relies on three pillars:
- Legacy military - everyone since your great grandfather was in, and you go in. Literally, no recruitment initiative is needed by the military. You got them.
- People coming from poor/working class families that want to learn a trade so they can improve their lot in life. Just show ads about all the jobs you can get post military by learning a skill.
- Bored middle class / upper middle class kids who want to do something exciting and blow shit up. Show a bunch of ads with dudes jumping out of planes or racing tanks through the desert.
It is not hard. No one wants to see an ad about someone going "I wanted to see myself there to make a statement..."
Government funded, obviously. They're the the last line of defense between democracy and literally fascism.
They definitely have paid ones as well. I follow a guy on YouTube that has a jewish history channel. He gets maybe 10k views per video he releases every 2 to 3 weeks. Very rarely has sponsors. But he says making the videos is his only job.
He is definitely getting paid by someone to make those videos.

Palestinians could win by playing the demographics war. They routinely outproduce Israelis. The only Israelis that are on par with palestinian birthrates are ultra orthodox communities where most of the community gets themselves exempt from the draft and live on the dole. Some of these ultra orthodox groups are actively anti zionist despite living in Israel.

Celebrities (and upper class people) are in constant competition with each other. It is all about meeting the expections of everyone within your class. You need to hit the right milestones and talking point lest you become a point of ridicule in the community or outright shunned for not fitting in. To these people the only status worth having is status within your own class, everything else is meaningless because everyone else is beneath you.
