Australia for a while had it mandatory that genders be concealed in government hiring practices, because they found that they were bringing in for interviews 60% men and only 40% women, and assumed biases. After removing sex signifiers, they brought in 70%+ men for interviews: The mere fact they were women was worth an insanely huge valuation for job candidacy, and losing that meant they were, impartially and without any biases at all, deemed inferior in the open and free market of ideas. (They removed the no-sex-mention policy afterwards, since it was counter to their goal of 50/50, the bias favored their desired result too much to keep it away).
So there's a real-world example of exactly as you say: Tons of industries would have very different results if there was no hard-carries going on.
And the WNBA. Not sure about their pay but the entire organization is subsidized by the NBA for equity purposes. And there's women's tennis that demanded same pay for less work/revenue as well.

I did an economics degree (which some of you may have worked out from my handle) - and at the end of The Bachelor course 9 Students were offered Doctorate Positions. 8 males, 1 female. From a course of about 75 students, split almost 50/50.
From an intelligence and skill standpoint, men usually are the best. The whole bell curve where women are just mid.. while men are dumbasses and super computers. We need super computers to advance humankind. They are invaluable and they happen to be 99% men.
And the dumbasses are good for a lot of low thought jobs. Because if they were average like a woman they'd need more "stimulation" and be constantly "unfulfilled" by their work.
They have their crucial place in society, much more so than women.
