I never read the books but I was instantly hooked on this. which is funny, I almost didn't want to watch it because I thought it would be doggie doo doo because it was on Amazon LMAO.

The only thing I had a problem with was there were way too many flashback sequences I would have been okay with them because some of them felt like they added to the story about his mental state, like when he was getting memories wrong about situations in the Middle East, constant every episode flashback to his family in the same fucking memory was annoying by the end.

Otherwise I thought the action was amazing and it really felt like they consulted with people who knew guns, and it was good to see Pratt actually look like an operator with most of his actions movements and gun handling. It's the same reason people like John wick so much it's nice to see actual reloads and actual proper gun handling. It's a small thing but a lot of people appreciate it instead of magic guns that never need to be reloaded and have infinite ammo.

I also like that the character in the story didnt pussy foot around how he handled the situation and there were no questions about if he was a good guy or not. he was for all intents and purposes a terrorist, killing people because they fucked with him, and they didn't try to make it seem like it was anything other than that.
