Good. I hope he gets the worst sentence possible.
(It's England, so he probably won't.)
A part of me wonders just how long said murderer has been getting away with this type of borderline shit, and if any players flat-out refused to play against him afterwards.
I'm seeing way too many people crawling out of the wood-work nowadays(or maybe it's just selection bias) who try to claim some variant of 'Muh Courts' or make an excuse about how 'Well, the Courts said they're guilty' to try and prove something.
Not just on Trump, either.
It's just appeal to authority fallacy by any other name.
Gentlemen, if there's one thing I can advise you - never, ever make casual talk with a lawyer. You will loose faith in the justice system so fast it will make your head spin. You will go full on doomer blackpill.
You mean you can make male characters ugly as shit, yet all women have to be utterly gorgeous and perfect, except for one that's just waiting for their glowup episode?
Yeah, sure. I can believe that. Reminds me of the 'Galbrush Threepwood' problem.
I've said this before, but the Mad Scientist in me wants to decriminalize hard drugs and then promptly flood the streets with them. Like, complete fucking saturation. Lethal doses of your poison for pennies.
And then just... let the problems resolve themselves.
Sadly, I'd also have to completely revoke any and all medical care for said drug addicts. You overdosed? To bad, so sad. Please crawl into this conveyor so we can shove your corpse into the incinerator.
So this'll never happen until I become dictator for life. Pity.
My personal theory is that they don't want to learn about 'the reality of slavery' because, if they do, they start having to come face to face with the reality that slaves were alot better off in America than any other location.
Arab slave trade? Hello, castration. Central America? Worked to death. Haiti apparently turned into an absolute shithole after the Haiti revolution, despite being one of the richest islands in the Caribbean before hand...
America is the way it is now because they did this weird thing like... keeping families together, or importing women as well as men, allowing them to actually have families and independent side businesses, manumission, not working them to death, and a bunch of other things that are a little bit awkward to learn about when they want to paint a picture of abject horror and misery.
Granted, alot of this stuff is hard to learn about because it's so sparse online, likely on purpose. The last time I had to go researching on the matter, it was very thin on the ground. I'd love to find a reliable source on the death rate for slaves in Central America, for instance, but... meh. I'd have to muster up the energy, and debating people on this stuff is guaranteed to drag straight into the mud.
I dislike handing out blackpills, but... depending on the type of job you're talking about, it gets even worse.
Most government jobs, you'll find really quickly, have no meritocracy whatsoever. It's pure nepotism above a certain level of authority. You might find a diamond in the rough every so often(and said guys tend to be REALLY fucking good at their jobs), but most often it's all about how many dicks you've sucked to get where you are.
Of course, there's a flip side to that - because they've sucked so many dicks to get where they are, they expect everyone else to kneel down and fellate them. And when you don't, they get really pissed off. Ask me how I know!
Thankfully, I've only ever had to deal with this from the outside looking in, but it's hilarious watching how they break when you refuse to bow down to thier little kingdom. Sadly, you can only do this in certain situations. I doubt people would appreciate, for instance, me pointing out how service went straight to shit when they started hiring on a bunch of black women to fill the positions for all the white men who were retiring...
"As a child I had been taught a code of conduct: I was to be courteous and considerate, and most courteous and most considerate of those less strong than I -- of girls and women, and of old people especially. Less educated men might hold inferior positions, but that did not mean that they themselves were inferior; they might be (and often would be) wiser, braver, and more honest than I was. They were entitled to respect, and were to be thanked when they befriended me, even in minor matters. Legitimate authority was to be obeyed without shirking and without question. Mere strength (the corrupt coercion Washington calls power and Chicago clout) was to be defied. It might be better to be a slave than to die, but it was better to die than to be a slave who acquiesced in his own slavery."
- Gene Wolfe, 'The Best Introduction to the Mountains'
I'd say it works.
I'm reluctant to tie myself to someone whom acts with the emotional maturity of an actual child, yet all of society will automatically defer to should there be a disagreement between the two of us.
That this is yet another factor I have to consider when planning out my future drives me around the fucking bend, at times.
Women hate competition(even made-up competition) and think men will respond like women to other handsome men.
When, y'know, we just don't fucking care.
Or romance novels in general.
Yes, encouraging sexual fantasies involving dark triad protagonists, monsters, and various other creatures will have no effect whatsoever to women's brains, but porn is evil and degrading and wrecks men's psyches and expectations and should be shamed as an addiction at any opportunity.
Boy, I could go on a rant about that...
Lady, you're not helping to convince me that women can act as functioning members of society.
They're not that stupid.
...okay, I'm hoping they're not that stupid. I'd rather not deal with civil war and/or troubles before I get some stuff taken care of.
I'm reminded of the phrase 'Romans didn't kill Christ', for some reason...
I'd be laughing more about that one if it wasn't, y'know, actually real.
Yes, an actual enlisted military guy was parading around his furry gay fantasies on social media as if it was a good thing.
Conversely, it's a good illustration of what men would have to deal with in joining up with the military, so... silver lining?
If you're willing to give up several hundred hours worth to a game that likely ran in a dos prompt at one point, all I can say is... the Drones need you. They look up to you.
Also, don't get the expansion pack with the new factions. It's not really needed.
On the flip side, you have Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, which lets me do shit that I've never seen replicated in any other game, ever, and I can control completely just using my keyboard.
Early games are all over the place, and I can forgive them for that.
Captain Marvel came out before they started really heavily with 'THe mEsSAge', and was really the first to do so, while making painful efforts to try and shoehorn that mess in at the last minute.
It was also a schizoprenic mess, and when you realize it went through something like 5 or 6 directors/writers or some such, it makes perfect sense.
I can also never figure Brier Lawson out. I don't know whether she just keeps getting bad directors, is completely autistic, or some mix of the two.
Normies gonna normies, but I wasn't thinking about that.
No, I'm thinking of shill and attention threads on places like 4chan and it's ilk. I like browsing /k for various reasons, and the board has done a complete 720 ever since all this went down. It's uncanny.
Chalk one up to for the dead internet theory, I suppose.
Am I the only who thinks we got a serious cut-back in Ukraine-shilling when all the bullshit in Israel went down?
I mean, that would require me being drafted, and I don't see that going well for anyone.
Plus, if there's one thing I've learned from all the ex-military guys I know, if they don't want to do something, good fucking luck seeing it get done.
This might be a good thing, and let me explain why.
One, it shows that they're clearly utterly fucking desperate for competent soldiers, and they realized all the diversity hires have basically fucked them over should they get into an actual shooting war.
Two, seventy fucking percent of military recruits have a family member in the armed forces
There's alot of reasons why people don't want to join the military, but I'd be a good fucking chunk of it basically come down to all those family members convincing the younger generation otherwise.
The military has basically fucked that sheep, and it's going to take along, long while until they're no longer known as the sheep-fuckers amoung those who'd be doing the serious work during serious times.
Or maybe I'm just huffing copium, I dunno.
(As an aside, my boss is a navy vet and he fucking loathes Biden. I'm pretty spicy at times, and he's normally really chill, but even he made me step back and raise an eyebrow or two when the topic of Biden came up. Take that for what it's worth.)
I'm honestly surprised, actually. Not the direction I expected the shooter to take.
Lesson learned.
TIL.
Reading the Wikipedia article is like a clusterfuck of retards refusing to reach for low-hanging fruit and instead focusing on the rotten apples laying on the ground.
Propaganda is real, preference cascade is real. I've known this for a while, but it's always good to be reminded.
If I had absolute dictatorial powers with no one able to gainsay my will on threat of being flayed alive, and I was tasked with going full scorched earth on the clusterfuck that is the Disney Triology, I'd have two options;
One, do the Thrawn trilogy, only with the main characters being the OG Trilogy's proteges. The MC would be one of Luke Skywalker's hand-picked student, you'd have a scrappy young smuggler taking on the Han roll, and the older, more seasoned diplomat taking over Leia's typical roll. The bold, brash new generation taking the risks while all the OGs get the heavy lifting done.
Thrawn would still be Thrawn, though.
I'd also do a blatant Mara Jade expy for the Jedi MC to fight against(and pair up with), only to have an explicit scene in the final movie showing both Luke and Mara as a couple. Just to mess with the fans.
Second option, do the Legacy comic series with Cade as the main character, keeping his actual lineage as a big fucking deal and a late second movie reveal. Legacy has some low moments, but I love how they went all balls to wall with the various crazy potentials the Star Wars universe has, from the Sith to the Imperial Remnants and all that good stuff.
The hardest part about doing Legacy would be finding someone to play Cade, though. That, and all the blatant sex appeal I could squeeze in, given some of the characters. I'm not much for the Twi'leks, but I'll take a couple of Zeltron, thank you and yes please.
You know what? Fuck it. I'd do both.
Anything that doesn't have auto-evolving artificial difficulty that punishes you the more successful you are.
I absolutely fucking loathe that they included that bullshit mechanic from Homeworld 2 in the Homeworld remaster/remake. The entire point of Homeworld was to git gud enough to turn it into full on Grand Theft Spaceship and slaughter your enemies with a massive armada.
Oh, well. Atleast I still have Homeworld: Cataclysm.
So, yeah. More RTS like Homeworld/Homeworld: Cataclysm, please.
