Tourism, because it helps drive the value of property up, and most Spaniards are tenants and not owners.
AirBnB's and what they call "real estate speculators."
Foreign capital in the form of investment funds buying property left and right (they may have a point with this one TBH).
Whenever I've tried arguing with them, I try telling them how it's normal for cities to grow in land value, that there's limited area and increasing population, and that in most cities in the world normal people move out to the periphery. They just complain about the rich and land speculators and propose rent controls and other state-indebting "solutions" like actually be given free housing by the state. They don't even realize how much economic value comes from tourism.
The real causes of their rent problem is the lack of construction of new housing to bring the prices down and the fact that salaries haven't kept up with inflation at all for many years. But they would rather just point at billionaires and their perception of wealthy tourists instead of agitating to incentivize housing construction.
They sort of have a point with the AirBNBs as well. I remember back in 2020 when coof lockdowns first hit, there was basically a rent crash in the touristy areas of my country's capital. Thousands of units suddenly showed up available for long term rent in downtown Prague. I'd be surprised if the same thing didn't also happen in Barcelona or Madrid.
Of course problem with leftoids is that even when they actually find a point, they lock onto the absolute worst possible solutions: nuke the last bits of the economy that still generate revenue, hike taxes, import infinity Africans, some bullshit about Palestine, ...
Valencia was a stronghold of the left-wing Republicans during the Spanish Civil War, served as one of their temporary capitals (November 1936-October 1937, they moved to Barcelona after the dominant Stalinist faction defeated local anarchists for control of that other city) and was one of the last Republican cities to fall to the Nationalists. In hindsight clearly, as with too many other parts of Spain, Franco wasn't nearly as harsh on the place as he needed to be nor as they deserved.
It sounds like they are only chanting "fuera" which means "outside." It's basically like chanting "out, out, out" or "get out." I didn't hear anything about migrants.
