Having Harriet Tubman be a Great Person of some variety makes sense. Having her be the leader of a civilization is retarded.
Firaxis should make Watermelon as a Luxury Resource.
In this economy, it practically is.
I think Weaves are what you need to increase your population cap.
Need to expand to the hex that has the valuable menthol fertility.
Fuck it go full retard and make the whole game based around their bullshit, make 'resources' out of stuff like racism, allow you to purge anyone you want by calling them a racist or antisemite and the same can happen to you if you step out of line, etc.
Then watch everything burn down in flames as you genocide all white people and the game claims victory as you have established a 'utopia' where racism no longer exists and everyone is 'equal' under daddy government, or else.
Oh and everyone on the 'right side of history' is a pedo to make it realistic.
Half of the Leaders in the last game (or two) have been retarded choices clearly meant to pander.
Like the Swedish leader was a literal traitor to her country, but they put her in because "female" and "feminist/trans icon."
I didn't care for most of the leader choices in Civ V (or many of the civ choices) because they very clearly had a DEI bent. It really seems that VII has just completely gone off the deep end.
what? she was never the leader of any civilization.
Neither was Ghandi, but at least he was a leader. Harriet Tubman was just a prop used for a media campaign.
And she had serious brain damage from a heavy weight falling on her head.
I'm not making that up.
Oh boy. Knew the series was going this way with all the Civ VI expansions but it's still sad to see. Game will probably be a broken mess too.
Yeah, there were too many obscure female leaders shoehorned into the Civ VI DLC like Lady Six Sky for the Mayans, Ba Trieu for Vietnam, Kristina for the Swedes, Seondeok for Korea, Wilhemina for the Dutch, Gitarja for Indonesia, Amanitore for Nubia etc.
But for the most part they were for non-Western civs so it wasn't so in your so in-your-face egregious.
The classic female historical figures like Queen Elizabeth and Victoria along with Cleopatra for Egypt were fine.
I've mostly been ignoring the new Civ 7 content reveals since I watched the first one where they announced they are doing a Humankind-style "change your nationality/ethnicity/culture every era" thing.
The Civ devs seem to ignore that everyone fucking hated Sega & Amplitude's woke Humankind & abandoned it immediately after launch despite it getting tons of hype and coverage as the next "Civ killer".
Even all the woke-as-shit Civ streamers all stopped playing Humankind within months of launch.
Humankind can't be the 'Civ-killer' if Civ kills itself.
Checkmate, Atheists
That was also woke trash.
Humankind had lots of hype while in alpha & beta, but flopped pretty much immediately upon launch.
Their dev team was woke as shit, but I don't even think that was the main flaw because the Civ community is also nauseatingly woke.
In the end, their game simply wasn't balanced or fun.
It launched at the end of 2020 IIRC, so it's been dead in the water for a long time. I do believe it's still supported at least.
Sega and Amplitude actually parted ways about a month ago over the fallout.
There have been a few other Civ clones to come out since: Ara and Millenia, that made no ripples whatsoever AFAICT. I believe one was even backed by Microsoft Studios.
I think this is a generational thing. Fans of the older games (Civ IV back) seem to have a more even mix of political ideologies, whereas fans of the newer games definitely seem to be the 'modern audience', as it were.
I played a bit of Ara, it's actually kind of interesting so far. Gamepass. I like its mechanic better than Civ VI's districts, at least.
I haven't played either of the recent 4x titles.
I'm surprised though how little buzz they both received considering how old Civ 6 is.
I still follow many of the Civ creators and they hardly mention Ara whatsoever.
It's honestly kind of depressing that they run black heroes into the dirt like this instead of appreciating their genuine accomplishments....
It's a mindset of "If I didn't accomplish the absolute peak I didn't actually accomplish anything." What a defeatist way to live....
The now-deleted "we wuz kingz" song video had as its description something like "we were kings and queens, we had civilization and boats".
Right. We can admire the minor heroes of history like Mad Jack Churchill even if they didn't shape civilisations.
They couldn't be happy with niggers running stone-age societies (civilization literally means "fit to live in a city". A bunch of tents that move every season that are inhabited by members of a single tribe is not a civilization. People farm. Animals hunt and gather.)
What, they can't find a more recent Saudi prince or South African president?
Darkening
NebuchadnezzarHammurabi wasn't enough either apparently...Pretty much Barbarian or random villages in-game...
I tried looking for Nebuchadnezzar, he looks pretty normal.
I did find Hammurabi. They've made him black.
Sorry, I must have confused the two. All I remembered that one of the Babylonian kings was made black.
You have a problem with tribal societies?
Just wish people would be honest about them.
They're the human equivalent of wildlife. What an aurochs is to a cow, what a wolf is to a dog.
All apes use tools, all apes eat meat. That was suspected as far back as the 1960s, been recently confirmed. Evolutionarily speaking, the common ancestor of all humanoid apes probably used tools and ate meat, too, rather than these habits being picked up independently (although they've been expressed differently, in different areas just as they express differently across humans in different biomes. eg, only some tribes fish for termites, others are hammer and anvil using nutcrackers; savannah apes use spears, forest-dwelling hunters of duiker use clubs.) Humans are just the ape that specialized in technology (which includes fire for cooking and warmth, and loincloths to keep the ants out of the bum.)
Humans didn't become domesticated until they settled down and started farming.
There were no civilizations in Canada when Cartier came, only wildlife.
The Sentinelese act ike vicious wild beasts, because that's exactly what they are (and it's exactly what they're treated like, but as endangered ones.)
A wolf is free, a dog is a dependent. Do you not know Aesop's fable?
Sure, I'd not like to live in a tribal society either. It has major disadvantages. I'm a dog like you. But they have more freedom than we dogs can even imagine. And I respect that. If they are 'wildlife', then humanity for 95% of its existence was 'wildlife', and apparently the only ones not wildlife are those who were docile enough to settle down so that stationary bandits could squeeze them for tribute and taxation.
You're not wrong. Maybe we actually agree. Just like wolves were domesticated to become more congenial and serve their masters (humans), humans were at least culturally domesticated to serve their masters (the rulers). We then call this civilization because it serves the interests of the powerful. I'm playing a bit of devil's advocate, because I think you're wildly off-base on some of your claims.
There is still no civilization in Canada.
No idea who the 'Sentinelese' are, but this means they don't bother other people unless they're bothered, right?
This is something someone would make to mock Civ Vi, instead it's real...
Give it another generation of woke and George Floyd will be leader
"He was a kang n shiet"
Okay. I wonder how it will do
Is this a joke? She wasn't the leader of any country.
What's people's obsession with her?
Do note the repeated 'enslaved X'. Insufferable.
The new iteration of Civ coming out in Feb has deemphasized leaders because they've completely overhauled the classic "Pick a leader/civilization to stand the test of time, going from the stone age to space" meta.
Now you pick a starting leader and a starting civ. The game goes through 3 canned historic eras with pre-scripted "crises".
They've tried to decouple the historic leaders from their historic nations.
At the end of each era, the player will have the option to "evolve" to a more modern civilization.
So in this version, you can't start as the Americans in the Stone Age, you start as someone like the Egyptians instead.
The initial example they gave was that the Ancient Age Egyptians would have the option of morphing into the Mongols in the Exploration Age if the player has access to horses.
Which isn't canon and is fucking retarded.
So since they've broken the whole " X historic leader leads Y nation", they've watered down the requirements of what constitutes a historical leader, claiming it doesn't have to be a political or military leader from history, it can be "anyone who made significant contributions to science or culture".
Again allowing them to shoehorn in more DEI BS.
Why is she a leader? More 2020 left-'progressive' cultural insanity. They probably made her bonuses overkill just to get players to use her, so that they can boast about it using online statistics.
It occurs to me that this is yet another current thing black female role. How absolutely hysterical and deranged of them. :')
I can't wait to see how many more AAA Clown World projects like this stumble out of the gate over the next year.
I haven't tried it yet personally, but I've heard good things about Old World which was lead by old CIv 4 lead Soren Johnson.
It's supposed to be a 4X where Crusader Kings meets Civ but never progresses past Antiquity.
The problem with Civ going to shit is that there aren't many indie 4X titles to take its place.
Old World is better than Civ VI, maybe civ V, but I don't think it has the modding community that made the classic civ games great.
I really like the RPG/narrative mechanics it borrows from CK in a Civ title, but I haven't seen people really stretch the game with mods like they did Civ.
Wez b railroadin n sheitt!
I thought this was going to be a joke video. At least I will always have the old games.
I’d rather see Aunt Jemima than Harriet Tubman. But they’ve already cancelled our dear syrup slinger.
Harriet Tubgirl?
