Because containment isn't working anymore now that their biggest backer, the US, is losing it's leftist enforcement, the establishment will be to busy trying to save themselves and hamper Trump to aid them and the migrant issue is only getting louder.

The worst thing to happen now is Trump ending the Ukraine War as that removes the one last distraction from their own internal issues.

Ban your way to victory to save "democracy".

Everything makes sense when you replace 'democracy' with 'our power'.

We're saving democracy => we're saving our power.
Trump is a threat to democracy => Trump is a threat to our power.

Here, I replace "democracy" with "Democrat power" and it checks out.

Justifying their call to ban political opponents by claiming said opponents are anti-democratic...the irony would be delicious if the consequences weren't so dire. I hope the political class gets thoroughly ousted and they all end up penniless pariahs on the streets like they deserve.

It's no different than any of their other "principles" -- we have to exclude people we don't like to be inclusive, and we have to have conformity to have diversity, and we have to treat everybody differently to have eq(ual)ity.

Some are also worried that the ban will backfire and make the AfD more popular than ever.

They should be, because it will. These globalist establishment parties going mask off and dropping any pretense of being in favor of "democracy" is blood in the water for the right wing, and terrifying enough to knock centrists off the fence to oppose them. It is a tacit admission that the noose is tightening.

If that isn't motivation to go after the commies even harder, I don't know what is.

The Weimar Republic actually did ban the Nazi Party in 1923, BTW. Obviously this did not actually stop the Nazis from continuing to grow in popularity (because banning them in no way solved the problems which attracted people to their cause in the first place) & eventually taking control of Germany within 10 years. The Germans have in fact been here and seen & done all this before, but it would seem today's '''''democratic''''' politicians insist on operating as though they are unburdened by what has been.

Already working. I know people who will vote for them just to spite the current government. There's tons of people who are just fed up but sadly this still is not the majority. I'll have to get a lot worse before things improve I am afraid. It's why I hope for the Trump effect, him winning giving some more people hope that if they do go out to vote they can change things.

Germany's government coalition has collapsed because it was built on fighting "climate change" and playing an increasingly difficult game of keep away vs the AfD. Something has to change soon for the establishment or they will run out of seats to play with to counter the AfD and their own budgetary issues.

To grasp what's going on in Germany, imagine if Democrat woke Hate Speech laws went up to arresting people for tweeting a morbidly obese politician is fat, and the elements of the justice system were actively seeking to put Conservatives in jail and banning their political parties.

Well in the USA you do have Democrats trying to jail Trump, but not for his political positions, for bogus accusations that would not even go to trial in a non-corrupt system.

It is for his political positions. They're just not allowed to say it like they can in Germany.

So serious question, is Europe completely fucked? Or is there a chance the people will discover what freedom is and fight for it?

They all disarmed themselves, so they will have to vote their way out of it with all carrot and no stick.

Most likely, we will have to bail their asses out of the fire for the third time. We should really just stand back and watch it all burn.

Europe is still in a much better position than the US in the most important category: demographics. It's worse off economically though.

I don't think I would describe the US siding with commies in WWII as "bailing out."

The saving grace is that people are slowly waking up to it. You don't feel safe anymore going outside, women especially have said so yet politicians keep saying it isn't the diversity at fault. America seems to have embraced diversity too much. It works with Asians (not the British way or counting who is Asians) and whites, some Latinos but it does NOT work with blacks as statistics have shown. We get similar stats here now as well and thankfully wide spread.

Indeed, opposition to topics about immigration, integration, hell even covid aren't taboos anymore in the area where I work. People used to think I was an asshole for being opposed to immigration, but now people have come around due to the pro Palestina crowd.

Personally to afraid to talk about that with colleagues directly and openly. At least in family and friend circles it's done the shift a lot. Generally people I talk to mention it themselves even. Maybe it's cuz I don't gender where some people feel forced it it seems, I've caught colleagues "correct" themselves and complain about having to do it.

Glad that the pro Palestine people are opening the eyes to a lot of normal people.

Europe is better demographically

European cities are airing the Islamic call to prayer

Most of Europe is way more White than the US. A lot of black and brown criminals are Christian so the accompanying Islamic isn't there (for the most part), but they still cause even more violence than what you get in Europe. Remember 12/60. Just because they shout "DIE HONKEY!" instead of "Alluah Ackbar" before blasting you doesn't make you less dead.

Well, what you did the first time was the cause of most of the trouble we have now. But the third time would actually not be bad. We are living under occupation.

You're blaming the US for Europe's mistakes now? Your dipshit leaders signed the league of nations, Wilson's retarded plan - the US refused it. Europe dragged the US into war both times.

Wilson wasn't even popular here. He only got the presidency because of infighting from the republicans and Roosevelt splitting their vote. That disaster really solidified the two party system here and gave us the fucking federal income tax which was supposed to be temporary.

No, I'm pointing out that the US entry led to an overwhelming victory by the Entente powers, and a punitive peace imposed on the Central Powers (at least one that was perceived as that), which set the stage for World War II and the Cold War.

Yes, the treaty of versailles that was quite bad. You're blaming that on the US bailing the allies out. You'd prefer the war completely decimated europe?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– AntonioOfVenice 1 point 1 year ago +1 / -0

I'm not sure you understand, I'm not "blaming" anyone specifically. The idiocy of the Europeans is well-known, but I was replying to someone claiming the Americans 'bailed us out'. The Entente might well have made peace after Russia left, or at least have lost the war, with terms quite probably as punitive as those of Versailles, but they didn't because the Americans were arriving.

It's like Ukraine, where European and American involvement just prolongs the war and leads to more death and destruction. Even though we're only "helping" (the arms industry).

The rise in AfD support comes at a critical juncture, with 112 Bundestag members from across the political spectrum pushing for the party’s exclusion from the Feb. 23 snap election. The motion to ban the AfD, citing its “anti-democratic” nature, has already been submitted to the Bundestag president, with the potential to escalate to Germany’s Constitutional Court. If successful, it could bar the party from standing in elections, effectively removing it from the democratic process.

This is basically misinformation, cause it leaves out tons of info.
If this motion is successful then the case goes to our version of the Supreme Court. They do a relatively fast review if the case has any merit. If not it's discarded. If it has merit then a process starts that will take years.

The 23rd Feb election will not be affected at all by this vote. Pure clickbait fearmongering.

All we need are Right-wingers and foreign-backed commies fighting in the streets, some hyperinflation and we're on track for a 1930's re-run.
