This podcast tour is unironically changing the game.
Its letting his campaign just show up and be human. Not scream about rage and politics for the 120398143th time like every other media appearance from any politician, but laugh and talk shit. Sometimes its politically relevant, sometimes its just genuine conversation. Its actually connecting to people on an emotional level that isn't frothing, and that's a way stronger source of support.
Not to mention shows like Rogan and Theo Von are so fucking huge they are basically the backbone of the podcast industry, literally listened to by at least 1 person in almost every social circle.
Harris tried to follow suite, but picked one with a cringe ass name (that is only listened to by insufferable women) and came across as inhuman as always. Which is likely how any Leftist trying to replicate this technique will end up for quite some time.
And went for 8 minutes, not three hours. She's so lame, it's unreal.
Can you fucking imagine how badly a Rogan interview with Harris or Biden would have gone if they tried to hit that 3 hour mark?
Biden would have fallen asleep a dozen times and Rogan probably would have just ended it out of mercy.
Harris would have literally driven him crazy because she would have kept saying nothing for hours.
I refuse to believe Call Her Daddy is a real podcast and not something made up specifically by some DNC staffer somewhere
I know its real because a woman friend of mine listens to it and has for a long time prior, which is how I recognize it.
Its apparently mostly just basic white girl shit without any substance
So, woman Joe Rogan?
I keed.
How embarrassing
They say it's a sexology and dominatrix podcast. I suspect it's probably just the preferred podcast of feminist fetishists and gay men who probably organized the Pornhub shoot that took place in the senate building. It seems like peak porn brain: "You know who's strong empowered women? Dominatrix-es!"
If they watched a real sexology podcast, one that probably interviews victims of sexual abuse, they'd probably have very uncomfortable questions about human trafficking, transgenderism, and the border.
The host is a sexual abuser. She knew she had hpv and proceeded to spread it to unknowning men including her cuck husband
Do you seriously not know about “Call her Daddy”?
It’s been the #1 podcasts amongst women for years. It’s basically the whore podcast.
(The Middle East is right about one thing, we are the great satan.)
I'm glad somebody figured it the fuck out that podcasts are a good idea, and that the mainstream media isn't the singular option to reach out to people. This is the absolute death knell of the media.
Some of these podcasts are also a completely unique way to see whole different forms of the politicians. The Flagrant podcast was actually super interesting because it showed that his comedic timing, nickname creation, and wandering speeches are 100% intentional and the result of a disciplined and intelligent effort to craft rhetorical weapons. He was actually trying to teach the professional comedians about his strategies, because he's a bit like a stand-up comic himself.
I actually like the idea of politicians doing 50% political stuff, and then 50% podcast relevant niche material for the fans of the podcast because it shows a breadth of these people. You can get a more honest sense of who they are.
Praise Baron Trump for that, Donald mentions it to Rogan that Baron was the one that encouraged him to go on podcasts as that's what younger people listen to.
And he's right, he's actually doing fantastic with younger voters especially for being a Republican.
There is something hilariously karmic about how the DNC mocked a little kid for falling asleep late one night, and that same kid grew up into being the architect of their demise through sheer power of Zoomer knowledge.
The Expert
LOOK OUT! HE'S GOT AN MBA!
They fucking deserve it. They were literally screaming that Baron should be raped and murdered on Twitter for years on end.
I hope that one day, on a private discord server, after a long night playing Stellaris, Tropico, Anno , Hearts Of Iorn 4, one of the good Total War games, or some other empire building game; the little known user "TheRedBaron69" realized that the Left would have to be destroyed, and they aren't nearly as clever as they think they are.
Yeah, people were giving Vivek a lot of credit for this, and he has a good social media mechanism, but Baron is the one in Donald's ear.
We went from radio, to TV, to (Internet) radio again. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
It's "audio only entertainment." People go where the entertainment actually is. There's nothing magic about it.
Exactly. One example is AM radio: Normies think it's only for a highly niche audience and weather bulletins, but Rush Limbaugh had a successful show on it that millions listened to. I think Sean Hannity is still on it.
Of course the left knows this and works day and night to block people from "unapproved" or "subversive" entertainment. They even pressured the EIB network to stop broadcasting Rush.
To be honest, this is the first time in decades that communication has been open enough for non-overton conservativism to appear in the discourse, and the first time in nearly 100 years that alternative media managed to take route without being controlled or destroyed by the government.
That being said, (when) are we going to see a crackdown on podcasting and more censorship?
They would have to build a federal regulator for both the internet and speech. They've tried it several times, but it's failed in each case.
I wonder why. Probably could be used by their enemies on a more local level in ways the uniparty wouldn’t want.
Cringe name doesn't do it justicd. The bitch that still runs it is a sex criminal and was knowingly spreading stds to clueless men
I do wonder though, in terms of longform podcast appearances for politicians, who is this for?
I didn't watch the Rogan interview but I have seen the Theo Von one in its entirety (with Trump not Vance).
I wasn't that impressed with the Theo Von conversation in terms of format or substance. A lot of time was devoted to discussing Trump’s brother Fred (who I didn't know existed) and Theo elaborating on his own demons.
Again, I wonder politically who these longform podcasts are for.
Normie undecideds aren't going to consume 1-3 hours of a podcast unless they are already a fan of the host (Rogan & Von do have big audiences).
Is this more about mobilizing your own decided base to go out and vote by humanizing yourself?
Or making some of the more hesitant Harris voters decide to stay home, because Trump isn't as scary as they were told he was and they have laundry to do that day anyway.
We all know their policies, they don't need to go to another city and say the same things again and again. Its boring for us, and wasteful/exhausting for them.
But they need to do something. Look at how much criticism Harris got for taking a 2 days off this week.
This is a low cost, low effort activity that might increase people's opinions of you and let you get across topics and information you really wouldn't ever have a chance to in more "professional" settings.
I doubt most people will listen to the entire things, but what will happen is a lot of clips will be made and shared by those that do, and those will make huge strides towards humanizing these guys.
I've already seen the Vance one on alcoholic parents being spread heavily.
Almost a million views in around an hour...and it was unlisted for most of that.
This is going to go wild.
4 million views in 4 hours.
18.6M in 19 hours. That's only on YouTube. We do not know the Spotify numbers.
~1m views an hour, over a million likes, and not trending or even recommended. I'm sure it's totally just the algorithm though.
In fairness, it is sitting on the top of my page waiting for me to click on it.
CNN Town Hall for Kamala was like 3.5.
Legacy media is fucking dead.
"Trump is so old and fragile he can only hold interviews for 3 hours without a teleprompter!" - the Atlantic probably
They will note any pause or random subject he brings up as proof he's doddering.
Barron getting his dad to do podcasts worked out incredibly well.
Baron may actually end up being the political heir. He really, genuinely, seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I seriously mean that, he's not a lunatic like most rich kids. He's also a gamer.
Donald Trump Jr. doesn't really seem to want to run, and I think he'd rather inherit more of the economic empire, but Baron might be perfect for running in the future.
All of his kids seem to be well-adjusted, down-to-earth people. I listen to Jr's podcast regularly and he genuinely seems like a guy who understands the non-elites despite coming from an unbelievably affluent background.
I don't see as much of the others but again, from what I have seen, they come across as well-grounded. They might have some dumb takes but they don't display even a hint of the utter loathing of the poor that most rich kids have.
I'm completely prepared to see some "out of touch" takes from rich kids. It's just the nature of the world they grew up in. I wish I knew the problems of managing my own business, and cycling between financial investments at the appropriate time. You'd expect him to say something silly every once in a while like, "just get a $250,000 loan", but instead Trump raised his kids to be smart and a bit humble, and Baron seems to be the one that is most humble and kind. DJT Jr, is very much like his father, but seems to be much more eloquent. Contrast that with Democrat kids like Hunter, or even other rich people like Elon.
This is one of the huge reasons I like JD Vance. He really did grow up as trailer trash with a drug abusing mom, but is the diamond in the rough that grew up fast, was highly intelligent, kept a good head on his shoulders, didn't get demoralized, and managed to get a rich patron to keep him climbing a ladder that most people never get, let alone see. I know dozens of people like him, and most are still struggling to own their first house. His experience is fucking ALIEN to anyone in Donald Trump's world. They do not have a reference point to the anything like of "picking up your mother from the police station because her boyfriend dumped her, got the police called on her, she hit a cop, and now you're gonna be late to school/work". But the horrible truth is that is real life for a lot of poor, post-industrial, working white class communities destroyed by Leftist economic policies, social policies, and de-industrialization.
It reminds me a bit of that time when Van Jones interviewed a family of poor whites out of Stubensville, OH after the 2016 election. Stubensville is a town shattered from the loss of industry (another midwest city coal & port city with 50% population loss). They had to explain to him that the factories had long been shut down, and the family of 3 kids regularly had to hunt for sustainable food supplies, including squirrel and rabbit, because there's just not enough money to pay for groceries when you have full family size of 5 working off of a $35,000 a year income. You could feel the room just have a simultaneous 404 error among the NPC's going "but how can white people be poor?" and "people have to hunt for food in the US?"
They just don't get it.
Listening to it now as I game a little, Rogan's format is perfect for the way he talks and also noticed unfortunately how Rogan is avoiding using clips so NO ONE can copyright claim it down but is referencing them.
Jamie has nothing to do.
Tbh, I'm not super interested in listening to the whole thing because I'm not really sure there's anything new that I'll hear.
Anything properly interesting?
More than anything it's REALLY humanising him hearing him talk to Rogan which given the 'Trump is Hitler' angle currently going on, is extremely well timed.
Trump called into a JD Vance townhall and Vance actually said that Trump's brilliance was precisely his ability to be genuine and humanize himself with anyone. This basically fucking proves it.
I did find something interesting. His commentary on removing the income tax and replacing it with a tariff system is not what I prefer from an Austrian economic perspective. However, we are currently a Keynesian Socialist economy, and he's suggesting setting up an Whig Economic policy.
It's not my favorite, but it would absolutely undo the damage that has been done to the US economy since Progressive Era.
We're at around 3 mil views in four hours now, holy shit.
And that's just YouTube, it's also on Spotify.
And tons of other podcast apps. I use overcast.fm because Spotify absolutely rapes the shit out of your personal data.
I use Brave Browser with built-in ad-block. It disables all Spotify tracking and commercials.
8.1 million views in 9 hours.
Trump is so relatable on this episode of Joe Rogan's podcast.
It is worth a watch.
Oh really? He's not unelectable anymore? Weird how that changed over the year.
Oh both of you bastards play nice.
Fair enough. My point was made.
I am fully supporting our Republican nominee Donald J. Trump.
I even voted early in person for Trump in Texas.
You should be happy about this not trying to take a petty shot against me.
It is important for people to be held to account about being significantly wrong. I admit that I was wrong with several assumptions I made in 2020.
I'm playing nice, but one shot at you was necessary as a reminder of how utterly wrong you were about many of the things you said, and how aggressive you were with those things.
You started shilling hard with shit that was wholly untrue. My comment at you is simply to remind you to have some introspection about all the things you said and did in the primary that you shouldn't have done or said.
I will acknowledge that I went too hard in my support of Ron DeSantis during the primary.
I underestimated Trump's support in the GOP massively.
Ron got rekt in the primary in Iowa. He didn't win a single county even.
The recent Trump McDonald's fry making event and the Trump in the garbage truck were once in a lifetime events and it made me realize that these are things that only Trump can pull off without looking contrived and fake.
I am starting to think Trump is a much stronger candidate than Ron DeSantis when it comes to a national race even with Trump's baggage.
DeSantis signing that 6 weeks abortion ban could have made a national campaign very difficult to run.
DeSantis does not have Trump's charisma or have any dedicated national base either.
I don't regret supporting DeSantis in the primary but I admit that Trump has proven me wrong with regards to his higher than ever polling numbers, favorable betting odds and overall pro Trump vibes I see in public recently.
Trump has even won the support of Elon Musk himself.
I certainly will admit when I am wrong about things.
I am not going to apologize for backing a different candidate in the primary though.
I support our nominee in the general election and I am looking forward to a Trump victory soon.
It was not your support for DeSantis that was the issue. It was the slandering of Trump supporters that was the issue.
I didn't slander Trump supporters.
I will admit that I got into frequent stupid arguments on this site with ardent Trump supporters and when it got heated I reacted poorly and called some of them Trump cultists.
It was a poor choice of words that I used. I regret using those words.
I was not accusing them of anything or lying about them.
I think slander is the wrong word to use.
The vaccine mandates from the Dems which has cost me a job gave me a mild form of Trump Derangement Syndrome as Trump was technically responsible for Operation Warpspeed
I have overcome this over time and don't hate Trump for this anymore.
I think he messed up with COVID but I don't hate him for it anymore.
HYPE
kamala could not go three hours unscripted
she can't even go one minute
I’ve enjoyed listening to a lot of them. And are the radio in my car often. A three hour conversation is such a good way to get a real true idea about someone. It’s nearly impossible follow a script for so long.
