Men can't accomplish most of their necessary men tasks if they have to do a lot of work upon returning home too. The drain on both energy and their mental state would make them far less effective to a point of danger.
That's the job of women. They don't get to just sit around getting fucked. There are a shit ton of tasks they are more than capable of that should be done, so that men can focus all their power on things only they can do.
That's how most of history functioned and its the only way we can function once technology ceases to make those tasks non-issues.
And, ideally, they also bring stability and sanity to the home. Which makes it a lot easier for everyone to function and manage through the chaos of life.

In that game, it was absolutely as brutal as it sounds and that was part of its charm -- it was unabashedly honest that the role of a woman in such a scenario would either be getting bent over (one way or another), helping maintain logistics within the confines of a walled domain protected by men, or being eaten.
Ironically, you see this occasionally happen in multiplayer survival games. I've seen on at least a few occasions where women end up taking up a role where they'd rather sit around the base and manage or organize things while the men go out and do all of the resource gathering, looting, and fighting.
