Don't trust any government.

Especially not the Russian one. Just because it's the current boogeyman for people we hate, does not make it much better than the shit we have to deal with in the West.

If you think your government in the US or EU is getting too involved in your life, you would shit yourself in anger if you had to deal with Russian bureaucracy and laws. Not to mention the widespread, blatant corruption.

It'd be tempting if I wasn't so looking forward to visiting righteous vengeance on the western left.

20 odd years ago I remember a teacher in high school telling me learning Russian would be a good idea.

I never thought this would be why, though.

While Russia isn't the mega-super-duper-bad enemy they paint it as, it still isn't exactly near the top of my list of places to flee, if such a thing became necessary. Not ruling it out but, yeah, the idea of moving to Russia is hardly personally appealing at the moment either.

i would assume you are utterly fucked in russia without knowing the language. my csgo/dota2 games show me they I wouldn't survive with english (or german).

TBH if you could swing it you'd probably be better off in a place like Singapore or Estonia, assuming that nearby conflicts (e.g. Taiwan, Ukraine) don't start spilling out.

Singapore because English is an official language there

Russia has been blitzing this propaganda win for a while. Yes, they're much freer of regressive leftism and the rainbow mafia. They are still extremely corrupt and will arrest people who speak ill of the government.

Russia does not recognize the right to bear arms (you must get a license to own firearms, and you can only carry a lethal handgun in public if you have been issued a "commemorative" gun by the government).

Russia has a country-wide wealth tax, meaning they tax what they claim you have, not what you make.

In the grand scheme of things, you could do worse than moving to Russia if you want to avoid globohomo, but they are far from the most ideal choice.

what would be better choices? (honest question, cause I consider leaving germany as soon as my parents are dead - i love them, so dont want to be away from them in their last few years).

from germany, honestly one of your Best bets would be the US. avoid deep blue states like new york, california, coastal oregon, etc. even in purple and red states, avoid major cities (they're full of homeless and trash anyway). My recommendations would be Nevada, Tennessee, any Oregon county that voted for Greater Idaho, or either of the Carolinas.

Barring that, Japan and South Korea come to mind, though South Korea's feminism is off the charts.

Japanese won't appreciate you going over there if you are not ethnic Japanese yourself you are just adding to the diversity problem. , also Japan is only a few years behind the West in terms of wokeness.

Objectively a smart thing for Russia to do. If China were smart they'd do something like a Hong Kong for Western expats using one of their empty cities.

I would go to neither because it strikes me as a <Current Year> style policy that is not going to be a long-term plan. Just because DC is a greater threat to me than Russia/China doesn't mean Russia/China is a friend.

But if I were (eg.) one of the people in the UK looking at a jail sentence for Mean Tweets (or if I were looking at a jail sentence for defending myself against a Future Astronaut) the situation would be different.

It's more like a writing on the wall policy. It's really hard to see the govts of US, Europe, Australia being meaningfully reformed within the next 20 years. If you had a business that was profitable and you could run it remotely from behind the Russia / China internet blockages then it wouldn't be a bad idea to go there.

You legitimately have less money stolen from you by the govt in either case, and while neither regime is exactly friendly to you, they're likely to just be apathetic whereas the ZOGlobalists (or whatever you like to call it) has active hatred towards Euros. In the right circumstances that's better QoL and financial profit.

That would be smarter for Russia to do given they openly invited White South African farmers to their country.

Russia has plenty of space that they could have a former Soviet city become a LEGITIMATE sanctuary city for western dissidents, especially if you could score some like former Boeing engineers and their families which would boost Russia's technical expertise.

China, don't think they could, not just because of how sniffling authoritarian they are as shown with how Hong Kong ended up but because if they got ANY engineers, they'd look at any of their buildings and flee to Siberia than sleep in that!

The real question is, can we keep our guns or did they accidentally fall out during the boat ride over?

They probably just want more hostages for exchanges or meat for the front. Unless you have a very useful job and you get by without russian I dont see why they would do that.

Reads a bit like they're lightening criteria for temporary visas into Russia. Would there be much of a risk of bringing in undesirables like that black asshole in Japan?

In Russia you go to prison for saying "niggers", and they have Muslim states like Chechenia.

North Korea is a non woke country but nobody in their right mind wants to move there, the same with Russia, they are good on the LGTB front but have plenty of other laws that make the country a shithole, you should be wary of any country that feels the need to ban VPNs, like Russia, China or Iran.

The situation in Hungary can quickly change with any new elections. Imagine you emigrate there and within a few years there is a government change, do not rule it out.
