Now, if this was in isolation and was going to focused on Ciri being a Witcher from one of the endings of 3, this could work well.
But the fact the recently employed and gave a radical activist feminist creative control, it's going to be shit and not only shit on Geralt but ruin Ciri's character too.
Honestly, even if CDPR hadn't decided to hand over the reigns to a moron, I still wouldn't have the highest of hopes for this. It's the way it's worded where "it's not about him this time" just seems like it's meant to be disrespectful.
Also, it's modern day. Even a semi-trusted developer like they once were wouldn't really be that trustworthy in my opinion.
That would be the worst if Ciri suddenly started crapping on Gerald, since the entire universe has only wanted to use her for her power. It was Gerald that was one of the only consistencies in her life and didn't treat her as a thing to used.
Yea the one man, her True Father who wanted to protect her above all else who when he thought she was dead, it broke him. The man who'd send the world to war to save her.
if this was in isolation and was going to focused on Ciri being a Witcher from one of the endings of 3, this could work well.
Those situations never work well which is why Mass Effect 4 had to spin out a story that "started" before the end of 3 with the launch of the arks and was then far enough away none of the endings of 3 would matter. Not that they ended up mattering anyway.
Besides it's not just which ending someone picks that will start a flame war, it's also which romance option Geralt ends up with [cough Yen], which armour Geralt uses [cough cough Grandmaster Bear], or even which Gwent deck he uses [hacking cough Northern Realms spy build], as well as countless other decisions that all 3 games lead up to. W3 did what ME failed to do when having past decisions come back in some form or another because the devs weren't yet entirely shit at their jobs.
Sorc from W1 who you can let die then or save only to meet again in W3 where she's been captured and tortured by the Witch Hunters so you have the option to euthanise her anyway.
Saving the sorc Keira Metz from her own retarded decision to go talk to the King who hates sorcs more than anything in his life.
How the ongoing war in the background actually ends and whether you even bother in the first place to get involved.
It's a big, big game that ends up with so much going on that later sequels are just going to be crushed by all the player generated history from the past games, let alone how poorly the new hires at the company will fuck it up.
What should be considered with any potential W4 is just how much it DEIs and gets the SBI treatment where the lead will be a female witcher, despite those being almost non-existent in any of the games, how much blatant woke pandering and virtue signalling will happen from random NPCs would you can't even get rid of but will tell you their entire life story as if it's a Twitter bio with pronouns and other info nobody even asked about.
The best thing any W4 game can do is completely ignore Geralt and every other W1-3 character because it will inevitably fuck them up through incompetence and/or malice when trying to "big up" the new OCs because modern writers can only ever drag down existing characters for comparisons rather than write something that solely benefits the new OCs. But then that premise also faces the problems of:
A) Make it a prequel so it's detached enough the existing characters, but then why the fuck has nobody heard of the new OCs if they end up doing important thing? Aka, why are all the black dwarves from Ring of Power dead by the time of Lord of the Rings? Woops, unintentional genocide by Woketards yet again! 🙄
B) Make it a sequel but then fill it with retarded references to the other games because when it comes to actually writing any depth to a story or character the "best" modern writers can manage is either to flat out copy and paste other things or end up with a mess of pronouns and other IDPOL that has all the depth of a wide puddle.
Make it a prequel so it's detached enough the existing characters
I'm going to slightly disagree for one reason I thought of that if they did NO DEI shit or ideology pushes would make BANK and might even surpass W3:
Have a prequel where we can play as Vesemir in his prime, you tell players we can play as the Witcher universes Uncle Iroh in his prime with no DEI shit, money would pour in so fast that people would confuse CDProjekt Red for a Bank!
Have a prequel where we can play as Vesemir in his prime, you tell players we can play as the Witcher universes Uncle Iroh in his prime with no DEI shit
Vesemir is described as being one of the oldest witchers in the world, possibly old enough to have seen the witcher castle built. That's a lot of years to inject DEI shit into despite existing game material like his affair with the woman Geralt meets at the auction house in the Hearts of Stone DLC.
"Oh he had a straight relationship? Well he's bi now and every other person he knew was my a demi-sexual, half human, half dragon, super mage who is more powerful than everyone else in the world ever, even Ciri and Lara Dorren and all the other Sources no matter what the author says because both "death of the author" and "greedy fat fuck" so he's agreeing with my OCs now anyway because it's more money for him".
There is no way any of the existing characters get out of this unscathed. Vesemir was fucked over in the tv show, as were pretty much everyone. Kaer Morhen became a frat house. "Eskel", who barely even showed up in the books was somehow, suddenly important enough to include in the "not for gamers" tv show that only gamers would likely recognise in first place then killed off.
Even if the characters don't appear themselves what will happen is the new self insert OCs will face the same challenges but solve it harder, better, faster, stronger to show just how shit the OGs were.
And Regis will probably be "recast" as black since Lawrence Fishburne was cast as him for the show.
I know it's a shame as if we were back in the 1990s/early 2000s, I wouldn't have to worry about it too much.
They asked for a Batman in high school in late 90s, we got Batman Beyond, same with Superman and we got Smallville. We got the 90s Spiderman and Xmen plus later Xmen Evolution which had the better Logan.as he was more a dad than in a love triangle with Jean.
The West for the past decade at least has very rarely separated ideology and politics from the media it makes so can't be trusted with ANY franchise. Probably why WB is outsourcing a lot of it's franchises.
They asked for a Batman in high school in late 90s, we got Batman Beyond
One of the rare few times writers followed the letter of the instructions and yet still did their own thing. Terry ended up being far better than he could have been and Bruce made it out of that series better than most would nowadays. Sure some of the later tie-in to Justice League Unlimited may not be everyone's cup of tea, the topic of just who was the father of Terry for example, but it still fit with in universe explanations and despite that plot point Terry was still his own character despite what Waller had intended.
same with Superman and we got Smallville.
I regret to admit I watched all 10 seasons of that. Well, most of them. I was skipping bits near the end but if nothing else it lasted far, far too long for a show and other series just went off the deep end by going even further like with Supernatural lasting 15 years. 7 just worked for so many things, mostly Star Trek, and after that things just fall apart too often. Stargate highlights this and while I don't mind the Ori stuff it really does come completely out of nowhere then gets resolved in significantly less time despite the magnitudes of difference in raw power between parasitic snecks and living fire gods.
later Xmen Evolution which had the better Logan.as he was more a dad than in a love triangle with Jean.
Agreed. Even with Claremont's extra panels in the original 1963 Uncanny X-Men comic that tried to flesh out Logan's obsession with Jean, pre-Rose and his actual history that didn't get written/published until House of M, the character was still always far too aggressive in that situation where Jean never showed interest in him, ever. When you bring up the points that he was born in the late 1800s and his literal rutiluphilia [redheads] that stemmed from his childhood friend/crush Rose that he later killed by accident, then every single interaction with Jean just ends up being shown in an even worse light.
If you played as Vesemir or even one of the original Master Witchers working on the Bestiary you could have a nice prequel that slots right into the trilogy.
No, this is literally the problem with post peak franchise work. Take an established character and shit all over them, in particular one who dies a heroes death fighting for his friends and family. Tv show already did this by having him try and kill Ciri so future work will be just as bad or worse.
Heart of Stone DLC at least managed to add on some minor lore points with the character and set up that missed romance Vesemir had with the old woman you meet at the auction, but I wouldn't see that stopping woketards still trying to spin some gay angle with his other life since witchers are immune to a lot of diseases therefore "monkeypox, hoe!" in their minds.
even one of the original Master Witchers
This would still get done badly since the original witchers were mutated humans that sorcs had experimented on in order to fight monsters. So it would be well within game logic and woke logic to play such a character as an oppressed human [black of course] who some sorc [who will of course be white] took as a slave then "forcefully" changed "similar" to the Yennifer story in the Netflix version despite how retarded that was since Yen chose to become a sorc and knew what she was giving up, even though the tv show still changed that part of things and flat out gave her a hysterectomy.
So it would be well within game logic and woke logic to play such a character as an oppressed human [black of course] who some sorc [who will of course be white] took as a slave then "forcefully" changed...
I'd prefer it the other way around as a reference to our creator Yakub.
Buddy, there are hundreds of years of history in the Witcher lore they could make a game with. If the devs could make a good game they'd make a good game.
Don't sperg out on me because the devs won't make a good game. Obviously a prequel with Vesemir would be good, if they made it a good game.
You don't have to write a fuckin thesis on how the devs could fuck it up. It is known.
there are hundreds of years of history in the Witcher lore
No shit, that's why I pointed this bit out:
Vesemir is described as being one of the oldest witchers in the world, possibly old enough to have seen the witcher castle built. That's a lot of years to inject DEI shit into despite existing game material like his affair with the woman Geralt meets at the auction house in the Hearts of Stone DLC.
Geralt is close to 100, he only has white hair because of a second round of mutations he went through, it's not an age thing since Eskel is the same age despite looking like he's in his 30s/40s. They both went through the Trial of the Grasses at the same time and age.
Vesemir is old enough to actually look old for a witcher. The games take place from 1270 to 1275, the 13th century. The castle the Wolf school use was built in the 11th and Vesemir saw it happen. He's possibly 200 or even 300 years old meaning he could still be fucked over with a prequel game using him as a character since many fans have been asking for more Vesemir content for years, and worse for him to be played by Mark Hamill.
Speaking of, this was already attempted and failed badly.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer
The Witcher: Monster Slayer was a free-to-play, augmented-reality RPG game for mobile devices, developed and published by Spokko, which was part of CD PROJEKT RED Capital Group. The game was released on July 21, 2021. In December 2022, it was announced that the game would be shutting down on June 30, 2023.
Regarding Vesemir:
Vesemir is a young, inexperienced witcher, who was injured during an attempt to fulfill a contract. He is depicted as a pale young man with black shoulder-length hair and golden cat-like eyes. He wears a dark leather armor over a turquoise gambeson.
The player character finds him unconscious and brings him to a herbalist in Dol Tirthana. After waking up, Vesemir tells the player what happened and hands over the conctract he had failed to fulfill. Later, in the Intruder, the player can ask Vesemir for help in defeating the monster and he gives them a special potion.
According to the glossary, Vesemir often points out the mistakes of both the witcher adepts' and their instructors', but he is convinced that he himself would not be suitable for a teacher.
Despite going on to be one of the longest running teachers of the Wolf school because "tee-hee, irony" that so many prequel writers just can't help insert into media as they have no original thinking other than spamming references and memes.
Fine by me. I can replay the Witcher 3 whenever I want. That’s where the canon ends as far as I’m concerned.
Same with Mass Effect 3.
Same with the Last of Us 1.
Same with Star Wars.
Anything they make from this point on, I dismiss as shitty woke fan fiction and refuse to acknowledge it even exists. “There’s no Last of 2, numbnuts 😆🖕”
No surprise, franchise is ripe, well more likely past ripe given the pillaging started with the tv series, so expect all the tumblr tier slashfic writers to now jump on the bandwagon and put their self-insert OCs into the spotlight now that there is an existing audience to plague.
Pretty sure all the good devs that worked there, that made Witcher 1, 2, and 3, have all moved on. The company was taken over by globohomo. It's not even the same company, as the people are completely different. They're wearing CDPR as a skinsuit.
Already happened between Witcher 3 maturing to its end state with DLCs, the launch wasn't great and had a lot of things that needed fixed including some bits that were simply patched over like one of the Wolf Armour quests, and Cyberpunk being worked on.
I mean... it's CDPR. Is it even worth considering the game in the first place? They are a left wing company, deep in the cult. Anything they produce is going to be DIE centric and pro left, dripping with real life propaganda. I didn't even need convincing to boycott the company until they denounce liberals.
Book author already did that in the original works for the franchise. When Ciri is off living like a street rat she almost gets raped by one of the male gang members until a female gang member stops it from happening. Who then rapes Ciri herself. 🤡
The good old "move over white man" treatment like peter parker or luke skywalker. Gonna guess its gonna be filled with uglies, rainbows and darkies.
Not to mention its gonna be on unreal engine.. which means its probably gonna feel or look like any other unreal game. And id be surprised if its not an epic launcher time exclusive.
Its still gonna sell very well despite all this just because its witcher. Yeah... they gonna pick ciri or a poc. Or majority of ciri's romance is poc or rainbows.. and its gonna have the writing of dragon age veilguard. the marvel quips and dialogue.
It's definitely going to be POC. 50/50 on whether or not it's a rainbow. As far as they're concerned, blacked.com content is more humiliating to their target enemies.
I got nothing against this. Geralt's story is over. It came to a very definitive end with The Witcher 3 where every lingering conflict he had left over from the books and previous games was resolved, and Blood and Wine provided him one last hurrah and an avenue to retire in. Let him fucking rest and let his story be properly concluded. Don't treat him like some fucking Marvel mascot to whore out endlessly as a merchandise-printing machine. Same goes for everyone else, including Ciri; her story's done as well and she's too damn overpowered to make for a reasonable RPG protagonist.
I still don't expect anything good to happen in this game. The CDPR we have today is not the same one that made the original Witcher trilogy, and they've spent more time talking about ESG than on any of the multiple freaking games they claim to be working on. Even fucking Phantom Liberty was something they were awfully damn quiet about until it was practically on top of us.
The CDPR we have today is not the same one that made the original Witcher trilogy
That wouldn't be the only problem, the TV show will mean a lot more normies taking an interest in the games if more do happen because many normies are so devoid of actual personality they need to latch on to bandwagons to have any experience of being part of a group, despite their behaviour being inherently destructive while companies cater to their denominator.
Indeed. Instead of telling Netflix to fuck off and doing everything they can to disavow the show, which they should have done (and could have easily by simply ignoring it), CDPR have instead been leaning into it, giving it nods and incorporating its bullshit into their products. I'm honestly surprised they're still having Doug Cockle voice Geralt, and haven't just decided to recast him with Henry Cavill. Though I suppose that option will always be on the table.
Instead of telling Netflix to fuck off and doing everything they can to disavow the show
CDPR don't have that leverage since the greedy fat fuck of an author was on board with the tv show regardless of how shit it was since it was making him even more money. He disparaged games in general before the actual games made him money and even took CDPR to court because his original lump sum payment was a drop in the ocean to the profits the games ended up making because he didn't think they were going to do well in the first place.
It's not going to be a show about the witcher? What are they going to call it? I just realized this might be the game. So it's not going to be a game about the witcher?
On top of the other Wolf School characters that may or may not be alive by the end of the third game, and at a minimum that's one other person, there are also the other schools that could be used as a way for custom character creation. Wolf, Bear, Cat, Gryphon, and then all the others added later like Viper from the second game onwards, Manticore from the third game [used as a potential DEI excuse since the others were all white dudes], and now also Crane which is from some other story, means a lot of potential for a player created story rather than yet another RPG where players take the role of an established character. But then that has its own merits since it can flesh out a character far more than someones shitty OC so pros and cons both ways.
The game opens with the MC nagging a male and the plot is essentially a string of nagging men in various locations about things they need or failed to do and cleaning up their dumb male-ego driven mistakes, split up by the occasional lesbian sexual empowerment scene.
Reminds me of that bond movie from a few years ago where they built him up to be a revenge-seeking badass only to then focus on his family/bastard child and killed him off in favor of a black lesbian 007. I could see people playing this witcher game then being turned off the series entirely.
Nomi lifts her knee and shoves Valdo off the gantry into the acid below.
Another description of it with some more context because "white man bad",
Eventually Nomi was forced to withdraw from the laboratory, taking the obnoxiously overconfident Obruchev with her at gunpoint. He threatened to unleash Heracles against people of African origin, which proved to be the last straw and, retorting that it was "time to die", she kicked the scientist into a pool of toxic liquid, ultimately dissolving him.
I might be alone on this, but that wouldn't be the first time.. but I kinda really didn't care for Ciri as a character. Her whole character arc felt like a rehash of Alvin's from the first game. Except Alvin seemed to be more developed. Ciri just had super powers for the sake of it and the origin of said powers were never really all that explained. Fuck, I'm not even sure HOW she stopped/pushed back the eternal winter.
Why did the VA have to word this in the bitchiest, faggiest, most passive-aggressive manner possible? I wish I could shove faggots like him down a flight of stairs.
Now, if this was in isolation and was going to focused on Ciri being a Witcher from one of the endings of 3, this could work well.

Because it is. It's used as a dismissal whenever you bring up concerns for Whites, men, or normal straight people.
Ciri won't be Ciri. She'll shit all over Garret as a father figure and all that shit these trash DEI "Writers" do.
Fuck it there is no Witcher 4 and there is no Cyberpunk 2. Shame CDProjeckt is gone. Guess they all went on Period Leave and never returned.
That would be the worst if Ciri suddenly started crapping on Gerald, since the entire universe has only wanted to use her for her power. It was Gerald that was one of the only consistencies in her life and didn't treat her as a thing to used.

They'll also make Ciri look like a tranny. Maybe they'll even make her a tranny.

Do not buy it. CDPR went so far woke they're one of the most extreme in the industry.
Well. Then I guess Witcher 4 isn't about me buying their game either.
The Witcher, no. Other witchers, yes.
The Witcher turning into The Bitcher lol
The game opens with the MC nagging a male and the plot is essentially a string of nagging men in various locations about things they need or failed to do and cleaning up their dumb male-ego driven mistakes, split up by the occasional lesbian sexual empowerment scene.
That might have been the plot to the Gwent spin off game.
Reminds me of that bond movie from a few years ago where they built him up to be a revenge-seeking badass only to then focus on his family/bastard child and killed him off in favor of a black lesbian 007. I could see people playing this witcher game then being turned off the series entirely.
Who executed an unarmed scientist by shooting him off a platform into a lake of acid. "Yaaas, kween! Slaaay!" 🙄
Hey, it wasn't acid. It was nanobots. And if she didn't kill him we would've had continuity to the next film, and who wants that?
It was, the nanobots were something else.

Page 130, line 10 ish.
Another description of it with some more context because "white man bad",
I have the books in my stack to read. Also still need to play the first two
Good. Geralt is holding the series back. Custom character w/ focus on rebuilding the wolf school.
So instead of calling the game "The Witcher" just called it "A Witcher".
The Witcher 4 they have planned has already been done.
It was called Forspoken. It was not received well.
Why did the VA have to word this in the bitchiest, faggiest, most passive-aggressive manner possible? I wish I could shove faggots like him down a flight of stairs.
then why call it the witcher?
