I actually wanted to believe Denzel was possibly based, since he has kept his opinions out of politics. Sad to see him go all in on a DEI role that absolutely no one on earth could not recognise as a DEI role.
Hollywood ran out of ideas YEARS ago, you only get lucky with a few remakes or new adaptations where the original take didn't have the tech needed to showcase it at the time.
But for the rest, it's sequels baby, even when it ended on the best note (Gladiator, Toy Story 3)
The director cut out some very important footage after the credit roll.
The real ending for the first movie had Maximus return to his wife and son when they said "Your time has not yet come" then they brought him back to life. Then Denzel Washington walked out of the stands and said "I am your emperor now" and the crowd shouted "We support you because we're not racist like Blonadus Trumpicus!" Then Senator Gracchus said "I identify as a woman" and the crowd applauded wildly as they threw their soy latte gourds onto the field. Lucilla was offended by this because she is supposed to be the strong female character.
I don't think so. The narrator of the trailer is supposed to be the adult version of the kid in the 1st Gladitor. So while it has new characters it also continues the story from the first movie.
It's always easier to destroy something than to build it on your own.
Sequels are perfect for that. Take the name, remove the innards and wear its skin. And then blame the fans for being sexist/racist/whateverist so you get good media coverage and a reason for it flopping.
I heard someone point out that Fistful of Dollars is a reworked Japanese story to justify this. Back then there wasn’t remake fatigue and they were trying to make a good movie by Americanizing a Japanese story like with Magnificent 7.
Was the Gladiator popular enough to warrant a sequel 20 years after the original, in an effort to see if people still care about it?
Waiting until a franchise is beyond dead and the the very last possible second to keep the copyright, has a horrible track record of movies that were so terrible they should not have been made.
Lmao Denzel? The guy who literally can only do the one accent, as a Lanistarii?
They aren't even trying anymore lol. Is Ridley Scott even alive anymore or is there a guy in a black bodysuit puppeteering his corpse?

With the way Gladiator ended how in the heck does it get a sequel?!

And that sets up the plot for the sequel.
Ha! I was actually believing that until Trumpicus. Sadly I could see that
Different characters in a similar situation?

Oh. Ok

300 is based on a comic, which was based on a movie, which was based on a sort of real event.
Exactly. I feel like they do remakes nowadays strictly to make it diverse and inject current year stuff
I'm not disagreeing. They don't seem to know what to do with it otherwise.
Does it really count as Americanizing when it's made in Italy?
True. I guess I should say they reworked a Japanese tale. Now it seems the main reason for a remake is to inject it with current year stuff
Well i did mention making petitions to cancel these shows. https://kotakuinaction2.win/p/17te9f6jmT/people-should-make-petitions-to-/
The rap music lmao
IIRC, the original Gladiator trailer used music from Conan the Barbarian. Quite a bit more classy and fitting.
The ghettoize so much shit with rap music now because they think it makes it sound hip and edgy.
Just don't look

I mean, it's been two decades as well since Tony killed Ralph Ciffaretto.
What are you a vegetarian? You eat beef and pork by the fucking carload
At some point the cultural attacks warrant retaliation.
God damn!
If you're in show business you'd think someone would learn something about what people want to see.
Oh neat. Another money pit.
