I heard someone point out that Fistful of Dollars is a reworked Japanese story to justify this. Back then there wasn’t remake fatigue and they were trying to make a good movie by Americanizing a Japanese story like with Magnificent 7.
300 is based on a comic, which was based on a movie, which was based on a sort of real event.
Exactly. I feel like they do remakes nowadays strictly to make it diverse and inject current year stuff
