My bet is it's the ones that spoke up during union meetings.
I mean, they had to know it was a grift, they worked there, apparently they wanted too big a cut from the money laundering scheme and got axed.
Union dues weren't meant for lobbying. It was designed for if someone gets hurt, and needs medical bills paid. Cobra fees... You get the point.
Union dues are FOR the union members. Not lobbying.

I think the people complaining about unions never put in the effort. I was a union rep at a PT job while my FT job was having money problems. What that means is my training didn't come from the place where I was assisting the people who came to me.
I had more training than the manual. State, and Federal laws that the companies damn sure know they're breaking. But, the people they're hurting may not. That's not naive, that's personal experience. They fucked up, they told me to check a box of I wanted more money an hour. Then people kept coming to me with problems.
Oh how far they've fallen. They won't get their good name back. Rebranding isn't going to work.

Why does a non-profit need a fucking union in the first place?
Because "non-profit" is a weasel word that has never once meant what it sounds like it means.
It just means that they can't take any money over their "expenses" (which is why they pay themselves massive salaries) and pocket it. Most "non-profits" only actually have less than 5% of their money intake actually go to the "mission."
And when you have that many salaries to pay and keep up with, unions will inevitably form to siphon more of it.
Like how all these rich rich people go "OH my kids aren't getting any inheritance. It is all going to charity." Then when you do some digging you find out it is a charity started and run by the billionaire's kids and they all receive 7 figure a year salaries and have access to 7 figure expense accounts and unlimited private jet access.
So this tells me that donations are drying up. Either from people wising up to their bullshit, or big ticket doners realizing they don't have as much influence as they once did. Either way, keep it up!

I think it's just as simple as denying leftist journalists an asymmetric warfare tool.
It’s always been a grift. The lawyers who founded it did so to take advantage of the various tax breaks given to non-profits. And back in the early 70s, there was a plethora of old racist Southern Democrats on whom they could focus their activism on. But by the 2020s, the demand for racism far outstrips the actual supply of racism, so their grift is slowly drying up as well. Plus they have to manufacture their own racial conflict, which leaves them exposed to claims of defamation. So they’ll try to milk their grift for as long as possible before the whole apparatus falls apart.

TDS is finally starting to wane, not in the sense of libs switching over to MAGA, but just in terms of the Biden admin doing such a piss-poor job that only the most diehard koolaid-guzzling TDS cultists can still be animated by hatred of the orange man. Nobody who isn't either so deep in denial they could survive a nuclear war or is just insulated from our fraying economy can actually buy that inflation isn't happening, or that mass immigration isn't a problem, nevermind the fact that all the crocodile tears for illegal immigrants in ICE facilities dried right up after Biden was installed.
Everyone saw the instant phase-shift from comparing ICE to the Gestapo and ICE facilities to concentration camps to just dropping the issue like everything going on with illegal immigration just stopped happening once Trump left office, I'd bet that lots of people quietly realized that they were taken for a ride but are too proud to admit it so they just moved on.
