Pat Sajack had his last show. I'm not a Wheel of Fortune fan but the guy was an institution and he is a conservative

Any thoughts?

Yea I saw that. Growing up Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were two shows my parents didn’t miss. Plus I remember some 80s sitcoms had episodes where they went on Wheel of Fortune

Pat Sajak and Wheel of Fortune have been around for as long as 99% of guys posting here have been alive and never changed much or got significantly worse. It's sad to see Pat go but Ryan Seacrest is a perfectly good TV host and Wheel doesn't attract high verbal midwits like Jeopardy so the odds of clues and contestants getting extra libtarded suddenly are low.

Remember back when they'd have the prize round where they'd pan a camera around a room full of furniture and appliances and the contestant would be shown in a little circle in the corner of the screen while they chose what they wanted?

"Ooh, ooh, I'll take the Kirby vacuum! And the love seat and sofa combo!"

They stopped doing that around 1989, and the pacing improved massively.

God, I'm going to miss Pat. I've been a Wheel fan for well over 30 years, and even applied to be on the show last year. I wasn't chosen, but I'm going to keep trying, no matter who is hosting.

I guess then you'd have to look at how Price Is Right changed after Bob Barker retired as an example.

I haven't been home sick from school in decades so I haven't seen the Price is Right in about that long.

Then you would be shocked at how different a show it is today compared to when you last saw it.

I happened to catch a few minutes of it randomly not long ago. There was a gay looking black dude modeling one of the cars instead of the usual hot blonde and I thought “Oh, price is right isn’t even safe from the globohomo”

Yeah they have fag contestants who give shout-outs to their "husbands" as well.

Anti tv people are kinda like vegans. They can’t simply ignore posts or conversations about tv, they must tell you how they don’t watch it and don’t like it.

I'd categorize puzzle/trivia game shows differently than regular TV. You're trying to solve/answer before the contestants, so it's more active and thoughtful than whatever reality slop is being churned out these days.

It was basically crossword solving padded out with some prize wheel spins.

When Bob Barker retired from Price Is Right they changed the show very slowly over time. But if you look at what it is today compared to what it used to be it's quire jarring how different a show it is.

Suspect that will be the play.

It wasn't a slow change at all.

Day 1 of Drew Carey's tenure in 2007, they changed the ENTIRE graphics package and sound library. All the iconic cues, gone.

Drew is not a bad host, but no one could measure up to Bob.

All that being said, I have neither forgotten nor forgiven the Planned Parenthood episode. Haven't seen a TPIR episode since.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 7 ▼
– lgbtqwtfbbq 7 points 2 years ago +7 / -0

They didn't add the male models on day one.

They didn't completely restructure the opening sequence of the show on day one.

The fags didn't start shouting out for their "husbands" at the Wheel on day one.

I watched a few early Drew episodes and was still surprised when I watched some that aired earlier this year how different it was. The scale of changes between now and when Drew started to host are much greater than between episodes that aired between 1982 and 2002.

But TPIR is popular enough they couldn't leave it alone. Bob was on record saying his was the only audience where they never wanted him to change anything about the show ever, and that the only way anything could change is if he wasn't at the helm. So obviously when he retired they took advantage of that.

I think it's more of conservatives not playing by the same rules as lefties. He always said WOF wasn't a political show so he wouldn't bring politics into it. You know leftist never play by that same rule.

Salmon never saw Pat's Twitter feed.

Sadly, it's set to protected as I type this, but he's had some wonderful insights over the years.

But he kept his views off Wheel FOR A REASON. He knew people watched to get away from the stresses of the real world for 30 minutes--something every show needs to take to heart.

He probably was milquetoast enough to not rock the boat hard enough for them to want to deal with the backlash of "cancelling" such an institutional figure.

Its like when someone finally realizes SNL is a giant failure of a show that makes no money, suddenly everyone considers it American Heritage and rallies to defend it despite otherwise never giving a single shit about it.

You can be conservative provided you kiss Israel's ass and don't talk about the Yews. I am sure you can imagine which issues are the most important in Hollywood.

Temper people's assumptions about who or what actually holds significance.

People are posting as if this person and their career actually mattered. It's just a tv game show host. Not important.

The title alone gives you all the necessary pieces to figure out who he is from zero knowledge otherwise and he holds a large piece of American cultural nostalgia.

People posted about some unimportant mangaka who made Dragon Ball when he died, but you were in that thread not posting about how insignificant some guy whose peak was in the 80s was.

You're not tempering anything. You're just an obnoxious contrarian who, despite thinking themselves an intellectual, is just a pretentious midwit. Social media "celebrities" are the ones for whom you reserve the question "Literally who." Pat Sajack hosted one of the most watched television programs for almost 31 years. He's a well-known figure.
