He was allowed to keep his job as a conservative, which tells me he wasn't all that conservative.
I think it's more of conservatives not playing by the same rules as lefties. He always said WOF wasn't a political show so he wouldn't bring politics into it. You know leftist never play by that same rule.
Salmon never saw Pat's Twitter feed.
Sadly, it's set to protected as I type this, but he's had some wonderful insights over the years.
But he kept his views off Wheel FOR A REASON. He knew people watched to get away from the stresses of the real world for 30 minutes--something every show needs to take to heart.
He always voiced those sentiments. I wish all tv host had similar sentiments
He probably was milquetoast enough to not rock the boat hard enough for them to want to deal with the backlash of "cancelling" such an institutional figure.
Its like when someone finally realizes SNL is a giant failure of a show that makes no money, suddenly everyone considers it American Heritage and rallies to defend it despite otherwise never giving a single shit about it.
You can be conservative provided you kiss Israel's ass and don't talk about the Yews. I am sure you can imagine which issues are the most important in Hollywood.
