People are posting as if this person and their career actually mattered. It's just a tv game show host. Not important.

Via reading the thread, yes. Otherwise no.
The title alone gives you all the necessary pieces to figure out who he is from zero knowledge otherwise and he holds a large piece of American cultural nostalgia.
People posted about some unimportant mangaka who made Dragon Ball when he died, but you were in that thread not posting about how insignificant some guy whose peak was in the 80s was.
You're not tempering anything. You're just an obnoxious contrarian who, despite thinking themselves an intellectual, is just a pretentious midwit. Social media "celebrities" are the ones for whom you reserve the question "Literally who." Pat Sajack hosted one of the most watched television programs for almost 31 years. He's a well-known figure.
