It's pathetic how Yasuke has basically become accepted as a real person who definitely existed. The propaganda has been put on repeat and pushed for so long now that any debate of his actual existence is over.
Talk to any retard and they will not even entertain the idea that the "evidence" from Jesuit writings may have been fabricated or embellished for the sake of a promotion. They will merely say that there is other evidence, without knowing what that evidence is. The idea of even questioning his existence is seen as taboo to the average normie. Even people who are against his inclusion in Assassin's Creed are merely arguing that he was only a "Retainer" and not a "Samurai," giving legitimacy to the historical revisionism that is being attempted.
The overton window will continue to shift to the point where Yasuke's existence will be elevated to "he was an important warrior in Nobunuga's army" because leftists and dishonest Historians will pull shit out of their ass and reference each other in circular reporting until the normies begin to accept it as true because it makes them sound smarter to know some random historical fact.
Good point. Since apparently "the science is settled" for their side, we shouldn't entertain the idea either. Stop saying "Look, if Yasuke existed, he was actually..." Just stop. He didn't exist, period. This is Culture Warring 101.
Honestly I don't know either way and they don't either, but don't give them an inch. They haven't proven a thing.
Oda Nobunaga was a ridiculously prolific writer and he never mentioned the guy. He once wrote a poem about the time he broke a strap on his favorite sandals, but there's not even a paragraph mentioning any dark skinned foreigner.
Oda must be cancelled in 3...2... He's dead? So we won! Castrations and cauterizations for everyone! bathtub hormones shall pour! Pride on pedopeeple!
You just know this is how they think.
God i hate that phrase, science is about questioning everything constantly to gain more information about it, but nowadays soyence is the go-to for normies
Science tm is the atheist religion
The Jesuits did have some random black guy with them right?
Possibly. Would make sense in the timeframe. Weren't the Portuguese one of the larger slave markets?
I'm not sure if I'm answering the right question here, but
Yes a bunch of slaves were brought to Brazil under Portuguese control. The Jesuits would be the type to rescue a dude, too. If they came into "possession" of a slave, he might travel with them.
Be Nobunaga, write poems about everything you see, allergy have this swarthoid show up in your court and be think he's dirty and make him bathe for hours, Someone never mention it in your writing. This totally adds up
It's just another leftist vs right wing wedge, nobody on the left side of the argument cares about the specifics of what a samurai was and cannot be swayed by any factual argument.
It's why homeschooling is important. The power to raise your children and teach them real history, not the approved narrative.
I used to read just about any history but started to be wary when I would see the trans stuff being pushed by supposed reputable publications like NatGeo. Then whenever a period piece was criticized for looking unrealistic inevitably an article would come out saying “actually England was very diverse at that time and here is a historian to prove it”
"Ackchually"
Saw the same thing in the 00s with tech journals. Before that it was all about techniques and theory and then there was this creeping politicism into the journals where it was all about the people and feelings and then racial justice. We have a very controlled media industrial complex, communist in nature, which is driving narratives and division.
So true
Even if we assume that he existed (which he probably didn't) and we allow for him being more than a useless pet (which he certainly wasn't), why exactly does every modern game have to prominently feature Africans?
They are 13% of the American population, less than 1% of the European one and almost absent in Asia. Why do we need to cater to them? They are utterly meaningless when it comes to the gamer demographic. I'd be shocked if more than one or two percent of revenue in the video gaming industry is being generated by non-Whites/Asians.
Imagine being japanese and excited that they were making an Assassin's Creed game in Japan, lol.
You know why they don't just set it in Africa somewhere? The only way people can tell Blacks apart is if they're unusual. If all the characters were Black, you'd have to find your target based on their different hats.
I hate to be that guy but imagine being excited about another Assassin's Creed game. Lol
I don't. Assassin's Creed has been ass since 2.
Black Flag was fantastic, but it was more of a pirate game then AssCreed
But didn't one of their massas say the blacks dont know what a computer is?
Back in 1992, NHK aired the Taiga drama Nobunaga: King of Zipangu. This was made by the Japanese for a Japanese audience. Yasuke is in it as a minor role. Long story short, Nobunaga, who had a curiosity of foreign things, took Yasuke into his household as a foreign novelty. He treated Yasuke well like you would a prize dog or horse to show off to your wealthy colleagues. That's the depiction of Yasuke I defer to because that's how the Japanese treated that footnote of history before Current Year.
it's like that black bugler they like to point to in england. it was literally a king going "check it out, i've got one of these and it does a trick!" and they take it to mean "ENGLAND WAS ALWAYS FULL OF BLACK PEOPLE NOW ACCEPT BECOMING A MINORITY IN YOUR ANCESTRAL HOMELAND"
The main argument I see when a modern day period piece is criticized for being unrealistic is “well the English crown included parts of Asia and Africa”. I find that to be a ridiculous excuse to justify making an upper class British show set in the 17 or 1800s look like NYC
In previous ages, the experts were called "priests".
Plus ca change, and all that.

Comment Approved: This doesn't do that at all.
Lol ubishit has no idea that the code of Bushido explicitly forbids underhanded methods such as assassins.
well that may be true, it certainly didn't stop the samurai from hiring assassins.
Yeah. What I'm getting at is that samurai themselves weren't supposed to be sneaking around.
Maybe that's where I'd disagree; I try not to warn expats, because I think t's pretty good litmus test. The annoying tourist gets the mattress wrap treatment and the worst stay ever - hopefully a permanent ban from specific places. The tourist that does their research and doesn't make an ass of themselves has a pretty good time.
Besides, the scenario of the whiny, entitled loser getting cuckzoned even after spending a shitton of money is, I think - actually pretty funny.
Fun fact: One of the things samurai like to do when they receive a new sword is test it out on the nearest peasant.
The second coming of Pope Johanna.
Even "retainer to Nobunaga" is too good a title, when great men like Monkey held that title.
"The Matrix is everywhere, it's all around us, here even in this room. You can see it out your window, or on your television. You feel it when you go to work, or go to church or pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth." - Morpheus
The guy who wrote the original story for this game came out and said that they changed it to this. I would think it would be a slam dunk. Im aware Yasuke existed and even if he was a samurai (mostly what I see is he was a bodyguard or squire) I still think it makes more sense to play as a Japanese character in a game set in that time period in Japan
Just got banned on KiA over at Reddit for calling out all the dumbfuck blacks and their white lovers, and all the tourist trolls, crying about everyone being "mean" in regards to this situation.
Of course the faggot mods wont ban the faggot tourists popping in just to start shit and call everyone who thinks this is retarded a racist, but when you call them a retarded shitbag troller you get the boot.
Japans first diversity hire.
All of history is a what remains after a careful selection of omissions.
/Rethink what you have been told
Harriet Tubman is probably just our Robin Hood, although Brits know that Robin Hood is folklore while we're still taught that Harriet Tubman was a real person. Doesn't help that you can just use a picture of a random slave to "substantiate" that story.
Then of course there's Anne Frank, who didn't write "her" diary, but that bit of folklore is also still being taught in schools.
That's an interesting idea. History is well documented in America* and I always took for granted that Harriet Tubman was a real person. Is there an alt-history claim that she wasn't?
(*though since the covid19 shit I started noticing how all mainstream ideas are upheld by those in power even if they don't align with reality, so I started questioning everything we're told...)
I'll continue playing Ghost of Tsushima thanks.
