They'll own the rivers, lakes and all rain. It will be illegal to collect your own rain water or drill your own wells.

It's already been trialed in full force in Bolivia and dialed back accordingly in other countries to the limit of what people accept without rebelling.

Air will be next.

You already are not allowed to collect rainwater in California. I'm sure in other places as well.

How do they justify that?? That’s bizarre, to me, as an Auswegian, even having visited Cali and Colorado…

California has a metric fuckton of water issues. Not exaggerating. If it weren't for active irrigation efforts via water taken from other states, the majority of California would be desert.

Then there's the active water mismanagement due to farming that's been going on for over a century that's resulted in some amusing fuckups.

Water tables aren't inexhaustible. They need to be refilled, and alot of that comes through... rainfall. If you're actively storing and containing said rainfall, multiplied over an entire state, that can have some further devastating consequences down the line. Hence, illegal.

Gotta grow all those avocado for soyboys morning toast, afterall.

Fantastic.

It seems like for every advancement society makes, some rich asshole goes "Yeah no, that was only for me." and then has a bunch of cronies they can pay to take it from you.

You cannot take water from the people. It's a basic necessity.

I want them to not have water. Or money, or rights. Let's see them suffer just a tiny bit. Yeah I know, it's a pipe dream. A water pipe dream, in fact.

I want the rich to have more water than they know what to do with...

... in the air vents to their NZ island bunkers.

Just a few years ago the left would have freaked the fuck out over this kind of stuff. Now they rally around it and even praise it.

Capitalism (aka freedom): 'how can we get people to buy the newest iPhone?!'

Communism: HOLY SHIT HOW DO WE GET WATER?!?!?!

It's so sad it's a little funny.

In Southern California Capitalism built a desalination plant about 40 miles from a nuclear power plant, and the Communists tried everything possible to stop them from building it.

Then the Communists succeeded in shutting down the nuclear power plant a few years later.

There's been talk for a while in Scotland about how the rest of the UK, and more, will be coming for the water up there. Going to be an interesting conflict when it happens.

I know it's absolutely "but media"-brained, but these freaks really looked at Dune and thought "yeah, controlling the water is definitely a good idea".

I can probably guess what the first dude is talking about since he's from my country. Tldr singapore is a small country and we didnt produce enough water for ourselves so we bought a lot from our neighbouring country malaysia, imported through pipelines. Basically at various times they have threatened to stop exporting water to us for various reasons. That's why we had to look in a lot of weird places to find enough water
