Alot of users here claim that the users here are smart. (excluding me) real circular logic there. and that this place is filled with the brightest and smartest. however. many users here, when presented with opposing evidence, world views, ect, act like complete chimps. and even the people who, quite frankly should be more aligned with me. are aligned with them, namely a few center leaning folks, don't see a problem with them. now. what's the issue here?

Controlling the entire beginning of a process is just as futile and a waste of time, for the exact same reasons, as controlling the end of a process. You cannot provide "opportunity" in a equity based way at the starting line, just as you cannot ensure that everyone wins at the finish line. It's the exact same nonsense just stuck in a format that is flavored in such a way that you find palatable.
The only kind of equality that is even somewhat possible is equality under the law, and even that isn't real, because the friend/enemy distinction exists. When you are in front of a judge or jury, they all interpret the scenario with their understanding of who is friend and who is enemy.
It's not about absolute opportunity, that's impossible. It's about creating a foundation that allows anyone with the will and aptitudes to elevate themselves. That is possible because we've done it for decades and it only requires a certain threshold of fairness, not perfection.
