It isn't eugenics to CURE something, if it was then say goodbye to ALL medicine
Most of those 'fascinating, compelling, blah blah blah' happened in an attempt to make life better if not eventually cure them. If I went to a blind person and had the cure to blindness, 100% of them would take it immediately.
Disability ain't a race you shallow shitstains, it's a harder difficulty to live compared to the majority.
The Deaf community (yes, they have Deaf capitalized) is full of psychos that are convinced being deaf isn't a disability (they'll still take disability money tho!). They refuse to acknowledge that being deaf is SUCH a disability that it has shrunk their world and limited their communication so they develop strong attachments to other people who rely upon the special language they need to communicate without using sound.
They are SO attached to this that deaf parents often refuse to cure their babies if they end up with hearing problems and often celebrate if the baby is also deaf.
They are SO insular and elitist that often people who want to learn sign language who do not have hearing impairments get chased out for being posers.
Sign language is fascinating but hardcore Deaf people are insufferable cunts.
They made a Law and Order:Criminal Intent about the phenomenon a few years ago. Apparently it's an issue in the deaf community. Some deaf communities are so insular and segregated that they want nothing to do with the hearing people. So if a family member gets a Cochlear or something they disinherit and shame them. It's like a really strict Amish community
Unless they're auditioning for IRL 'see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil' they're just indoctrinated fools that are too far gone to be anything other than NPCs.
You see that a lot on the left, those protesters that block roads come to mind.
To be fair the closest thing we have to a cure for most metabolic disabilities is just genetically screening embryos. On a population level "curing" the disability that way basically is just eugenics.
Eugenics being "bad" is one of the worst catastrophes to befall on humanity. So nazis liked eugenics. So what? Nazis also liked to breathe air and drink water, figure this out.
As long as they're non-mandatory, what's wrong with genetics? Given that most marriages are loveless or broken anyways, why wouldn't I wish to create kids with a partner that either maximizes the chance of them being really smart (and thus getting far in life) or really healthy (which matters a lot). Or maybe both?
Sure, we don't know if eugenics can work that well or precise with humanity. But if we don't study - we'll never know.
Because they hate the idea that genetics defines them in any way at all.
Genetics is for "animals". Humans are magical beings made out of fairy farts, and the idea of humans being limited by nature offends them.
Note how they defy that genetics defines sex ... they use the word "gender" instead, and think that wearing dresses and cutting off their dick somehow makes a man a woman.
Mental retardation? Oh, well, that's all the "poisons", it can never be my shitty genetics that caused my kid's mental deficiencies ....
Humans hate thinking they're a part of nature until it comes time to justify killing other species.
They also seem to think that "eugemics" means "killing" .. and what the fuck is wrong with sterilizing some sexually aggressive retard with no impulse control? Or aggressive retards in general?
I once met this ... couple .. that were passed off as a "married" couple, because they openly talked about ... stuff .... until someone slipped that their parents were "rich jews" who abandoned them for being retarded ... the look on his face when I said "both pairs of parents?" told me they were what I suspected, fraternal twins .... imagine the monster they might have spawned in they hadn't been fixed back before they banned mandatory sterilization of these .. humans (they're not people. If a sign language using chimp can't be a person, then neither can a goddamned abomination.)
People selectively breed despite their mealymouthed disclaimers. Eugenics as governmental policy runs into ethical problems in the debate over which characteristics are more advantageous than others and whether or not certain individuals should be legally prohibited from reproducing.
I really don't give benefit of the doubt to these kinds of arguments anymore, they lost that privilege on the 'you're harming others by not taking an experimental vaccine' hill alone..
In that respect it makes sense, as in my opinion it's WAY worse to make someone live out an existence of pure pain with no hope of curing than to screen the embryo in that regard. Maybe if we could manipulate genetics better we could make sure those traits aren't activated in the first place.
If I went to a blind person and had the cure to blindness, 100% of them would take it immediately.
Don't be too sure. A blind leftist is as evil and stupid as a sighted one. I can imagine some would enjoy being a member of a marginalized group (the "unsighted") more than being a normal "sighted person."
Those "fascinating, compelling, and dramatic possibilities" translates to what that AI image suggests, the cripple is a liability that other characters need to toil and sacrifice in order to get them where they need to go. Remember in Game of Thrones, where the crippled Bran decided he absolutley needed to adventure out into a frozen wasteland deep into the territory of lich lords with undead armies? He was dead weight the whole time, and two of his companions died protecting him.
I once played a game of Parhfinder where one of the players decided it would be fun to make a character with a severe head injury so all her character could say was her name. Having to play charades to communicate got really frustrating really quickly.
And then you reach the end of the series and realize how much better off the world would have been if Bran had died from that fall in the first episode.
100% sure anyone in a wheel chair will do anything to be able to walk. Otherwise its coping.. thats what it is. Coping. Like how ugly and fat women say they dont need no man even though very very very few men like them.
"Some of the best and most loved recent fantasy haven’t had any problems including disabled people so writing issue I guess."
Edward's motivation throughout the entire fucking series was to restore his and his brother's bodies. Just because they can turn their disability into a fucking super power does not mean they willingly want the handicap. Losing a limb/basic sense is a devastating loss that eats away at your sense of self worth.
I'm right in the middle of rewatching FMA:B right now, actually. There have been a couple episodes where Alphonse is having severe psychological breakdowns because he knows he's nothing more than a soul artificially bound to a suit of armor and that it's entirely unnatural to exist that way. At one point he's not even sure he's a real person because a villain character convinces him that he's just a construct of Edward's, designed to carry out his will.
"The thing that's wrong with me makes me better" is another one of those Liberal concepts that has ruined entire generations of people into thinking they don't need to make up for their failings, and should instead be celebrated for them.
What really made me feel for the poor guy was the fact they just at one point casually mentioned how he can not sleep. Ever. Like, just think about it. There are chunks out of the day.. every single day... where he's alone left to his thoughts. Now consider how many days that possibly was all added together. Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't lose it more than he did. I know he doesn't feel fatigue, but man you come up with some pretty fucked up thoughts when you have NO real periods of actual rest... Just... hours upon days... upon weeks straight of shower thoughts.
Also, I know you didn't ask, but I personally preferred the first show. The ending was so much more thought provoking. Envy being their brother... the whole dual worlds, uh... the kid.. Wrath? I get confused because they did some name swapping with Pride. God, that reveal of him having his limbs was so good. Which again, same as you said, that was a real psychological kick in the nuts for Ed.
Do these psychos even realise that:
It isn't eugenics to CURE something, if it was then say goodbye to ALL medicine

I don't remember the details but there was some internet drama about a deaf group that were considering hearing aids genocide.
Not a deaf group. Damn near the lot of them. Deafs are the biggest assholes you'll ever meet.
Source: was (much more) severely hearing disabled. Got it cured with surgery, because only a freak show deviant wouldn't.
Fun part? It's been this way for thirty years. I first encountered this when I was a kid.

TBH, I only do it to give eugenics the benefit of the doubt rather than the idiot poster.
It's criminal that commies got to lay claim to "we're not in a utopia because no-one has tried the real version yet" but the eugenicists didn't.
Maybe the judo reversal move is to call using Adderall and antidepressants eugenics.

Well of course they don't like eugenics, they're obviously retarded.
Always was. Leftism is an ideology of the unwelcome, the unworthy and the uncivilized.

They're misery merchants. That's all there is to it.
Is there an archive? I can't see it looks like it may have been deleted.
And we come to the age old problem of OP directly linking to things that OOP deletes after their blood alcohol returns to single digit levels.
