Sports Illustrated had the best writing I'd ever seen in this genre.

I own multiple books--not magazines, BOOKS--published by them.

When they cucked their swimsuit issue, I knew this was inevitable.

They. Hate. Beauty.

The magazine was always in an awkward position considering they were reporting on sports happenings weeks late in a business where only today matters.

It's a tough sell writing long form content and asking people to pay for yesterday' (really two weeks ago) news in the days of the Internet and the new focus on sports betting.

Don't forget the "go broke" part is still a win condition for the gay commies. Their goal is to subvert or destroy everything.

They went from fatass to mentally ill troon swimsuit covers, I’m shocked that they didn’t sell out of copies compared to those horribly ugly women like Elle McPherson and Brooklyn Decker /s

Brooklyn Decker

That's a power tool company, don't lie to me!

Ahh damn, you beat me by half an hour.

Anyway, same outlet a few years earlier: Sports Illustrated releases swimsuit issue with transgender cover model

Rest in piss and learn to weld.

SI was sold to new owners 5 years ago who IIRC essentially hollowed out the company similar to Deadspin and reduced it to Bleacher Report quality online.

The Athletic for a time was arguably the spiritual successor to SI online, but they eventually were bought by the New York Times, burned through all their venture capital money and hired too many women trolling for #MeToo gotchas.

This suggests that the majority of their profit came from the swimsuit issue.

It’s an undeniable hilariously bad mistake. You can easily point to it and say this is clearly a stupid backwards idea. It’s harder to show declines in article quality.

Not necessarily. Only that the actions surrounding this bastardization of the swimsuit issue were also endemic in the loss of sales. "A" can cause both "B" and "C", "B" doesn't necessarily have to cause "C" even if they're correlated.

In this case, Wokeness causes both the decline of the swimsuit edition, and also causes bad writing no one wants to read.

AI can make a better swimsuit edition.

At least sports won't be a casualty of the absence.
