There was a time when a Beetlejuice, Beverly Hills Cop, or Ghostbusters would’ve made me happy but now I don’t plan on watching unless it’s free. With the most recent ghostbusters it was nice to see the outrage of the 2016 Ghostbusters shills
They cancelled the original Beetlejuice sequel because they realized they had nothing interesting left to say with the character.
There is no chance that now, in this era, they do.
There's a play that's fairly popular. There's a couple catchy tunes. I don't trust Hollywood to adapt it though.
There was also the cartoon which was good in its time.
But then they'd have to explain why his fingers were red, and that would instantly end the entire production.
Dare I ask why the cartoon version's fingers were red?
The story goes that at some point in preproduction someone on the staff drew a picture of the titular character fingering Lydia on her period, with his hands stained with the crimson.
And it became such a big thing among the staff that for the entire duration of the cartoon his fingers were bright red with no explanation.
Hooooly shit, I had no idea.
Yeah, good luck with that.
Yea, they would probably whine about the dancing around the table now
As a big fan of the original, I found the most recent Ghostbusters no better than 2016, just fewer annoying women. The entire thing was member berries and the end with Egon and the OGs was embarrassing. The next one with the freezing scare or whatever looks even worse.
I don’t plan to watch. 2016 Ghostbusters really annoyed me and made me more mad when I learned they did that instead of the Ghostbusters 3 that the director wanted. Stupid feminist CEO wanted a female reboot nobody asked for. The director of Afterlife was the son of the director of the original but I wish he had given the middle finger to the 2016 version.
Had they made a movie where the original Ghostbusters train a new group it would’ve been received so much better. 2016 was the first instance I can remember of making something specifically to piss off fans
The Ghostbusters: The Video Game game is the sequel you're looking for. It's the last true Ghostbusters.
I’ve heard that. I’ll check if it’s on Steam. If not I’ll watch a play through on YouTube
That game is actually way better than it has any right to be, and it looks fantastic too.
The soundtrack fits the original two movies, and the story is pretty good.
There is a segment near the end that is tedious as heck, but otherwise I was really pleasantly surprised, and Shill4Hire is correct, it's the Ghostbuster 3 story we never got on film.
Too bad they didn't do an animated adaptation while they still had the voices of all 4. Now I’m pumped to go play the game
Indiana Jones 4 was supposed to be old guy teaches the new guy but we see how that played out.
I heard about that. They literally will not allow a man to teach a woman nowadays.
I still find the 2016 Melissa Mccarthy action figure at Ollie's
I didnt know they even made action figures for that stupid movie. Wow
they were discounted soon after they came out
Ike Perlmutter got attacked for saying female action figures don’t sell and questioning the direction Disney marvel was going
Patton Oswalt. Guaranteed shit show.
Arrr, it be as free as yer ship can sail, me hartie.
On this list literally only Joker 2 might tickle my fancy and ONLY if its as good as the first.... Which I highly doubt. Original barely had any budget and was more artsy, I doubt they'll do it with the 2nd where everyone expects something big. Other than that? No, I will watch my old movies tyvm.
I would bet that they'll "subvert" and retcon shiz simply on account of how the first one drew popularity for the "wrong kind" of meme messages.
100% what I was thinking. First movie while not a master piece was very watchable and had great moments. Actually made me go to the cinema! Barely any movie gets me in there anymore, last was the last jedi and we all know how that ended..
I don't know what other story they need to tell for that joker though, it was it's own thing outside of the usual DC super heroes genre, so the sequel shouldn't bring in the heroes and probably just going to be how he organizes his criminal gangs, is that something people would care about?
Tbf, if they did do a the animated series while being faithful to the characters... That could be interesting. But my expectations aren't really high. I doubt I will go to the cinema if I don't hear raving reviews of a couple people I trust with their opinion.
Joker 2 can't do anything lol, it has virtually nothing to build on. The first one was an antiestablishment movie so generic that everybody thought it was boosting their side. What's next, Joker murdering more people?
I mean I guess he could kill more politicians and journalists, that might be interesting
Isn't it supposed to be a musical? No clue how they will pull that off.
I heard nothing about it... What?!
Joker, Dune, Bad Boys and Kung Fu Panda should be worth a look. But the thing that confuses me is Gladiator 2. That movie didn't set up for a sequel at all, so why?
I was hesitant about Blade Runner 2049 until I saw it. However, the original had a possibility for a sequel given the movie ends with the main characters on the run from the police.
Gladiator has no reason to have a sequel. The plot was wrapped up, the main character dies at the end along with the antagonist, and there wasn't another character that had a plot line that needed to go somewhere.
I am looking forward to Dune. Despite the race swapping, the first one was pretty good, and Villeneuve is basically the only really good director out right now.
Not excited for any of them, but I'll probably check out (yar har) Dune 2 and Bad Boys 4.
Dune is a great story, and Dune 2021 was decent enough. It had some things we complain about, but was still fun.
As for Bad Boys, I'm just curious if they can keep the '90s feel at all. Bad Boys 3 was far from perfect, as I recall, but I do remember being impressed by that, at least in many ways, it managed to capture some of the tone of the originals. So I'm curious to see what Bad Boys 4 (if they don't call it Bad Boys 4 Life they're wasting a lot of meme potential) will have to offer.
I've actually come to really appreciate the first Bad Boys in recent time. I originally didn't like it when it first came out, but it looks like a masterpiece compared to today's films, plus Mark Mancina's soundtrack -- he made some great stuff during the 1990s especially with Speed and Fair Game -- was outrageously fantastic, and Tea Leoni was as hot as ever in that film.
I didn't care much for the sequel due to it being too long and Will Smith being portrayed as too over-the-top and hogging the screen, but I did really enjoy the ending sequence with the badass officers decked out in military gear putting the pain on the drug cartel.
Haven't seen the third film, and both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are too old and out of shape to be seen as badasses these days. Plus, Smith being a simpy jogger for his she-devil wife makes him lose any kind of masculine appeal as a leading man whatsoever, not to mention all that other Leftist nonsense he seems to promote when he isn't being a beta-cuck. I can't imagine Bad Boys 4 being anything other than a lazy cash grab, but you're right that they absolutely need to call it Bad Boys 4 Life.
Are you fucking kidding me right now
Nope and Netflix is making it…
I dare them to race-swap Axel Foley.
After all, he doesn't have to be black, right? Right?
I think they pulled Eddie Murphy out of the home reprise the role.
Did Judge Reinhold have to retire from the bench to accept the role?
Maybe the Ghostbusters one as Frozen Empire looked promising, Dune just because I want to see if they actually pull through on the ending. It's a 50/50 on that.
The rest are really unnecessary sequels except Sonic as they hinted Shadow in the last one.
Thousands of people dead
How is this funny..
They were New Yorkers
Well, how many people got stepped on by the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man?
What's the Dune ending? Do they do something controversial in the books?
Not really (unless having a wife and a mistress is 'controversial'), I just want them not to fuck up the uprising, his sister or him bitch slapping the Bene Gesserit.
Joker and Dune I actually am, Dune because it's not a sequel in the same vein as the others, it's the continuation of the same story.
Joker is a pointless sequel but the first one was so damn good and I'm curious about where the story goes.
Gladiator 2 is the biggest lol on that list.
Also props to the tweet maker by ordering the list by length. Autist confirmed.
I give Dune 2 a pass because it was always intended to be made. The first movie stopped half way through the book.
The others? Unecessary and unwanted.
Beetlejuice 2 is 3 decades too late. Same with Beverly Hills Cop 4. The reason they didn't make a 4th one was because the third one was not well-received. Beetlejuice just went on to have those weird-ass cartoons.
Joker 2, Deadpool 2, Despicable Me 4, and Sonic 3 are the only ones that have a shot at being watchable. Maybe Paddington 3 but I don't know who the target audience is.
Venom and Sonic only because there is enough story to actually move them ahead. Dune, Ghostbusters and Deadpool are on a maybe because I hadn't seen the previous ones and don't k ow if I want to catch up, but have enjoyed their other works including videogames. The rest are right out.
Will check out Dune2. Deadpool3 and maybe Joker2 if the reviews are decent. But excitement is something I just cant feel anymore since the woke era started and they killed star wars.
Kung-Fu Panda really should've been a one-off, i still feel sour about the whole "pandas are actually better at kung-fu than other animals" thing, which undermines the entire point of the first movie
