Capitalism is based on the well-founded notion that individuals are better at determining how to distribute resources than a centralized entity. The false ideal of "limitless growth" arises out of the legal mandate for public companies to maximize profits for their shareholders (i.e. central government interference.)

Capitalism is based on the well-founded notion that individuals are better at determining how to distribute resources than a centralized entity.

I'll go a step farther/simpler. We are talking about arguing with communists, after all:

Capitalism is the idea that things have value.

I don't think defining capitalism as essentially the "utility theory of value" vs. communism's "labor theory of value" is sufficient to distinguish it from pre-enlightenment economic systems, but given that "capitalism" itself (the word, not the idea) is a communist invention, perhaps we're falling victim to the trap of letting the enemy set the terms of the discussion.

I'm not talking utility theory, I just mean, you can't have free market capitalism without freedom to trade, and trade is the exchange of one thing (usually of money/currency) for goods. Goods have value. It's not necessarily a fixed or absolute value, but there is obviously value there. When I said I was making it simpler, I meant it. I'm not talking any specific theory of values, just that value itself exists. I guess you could call it the Value Theory of Value.

Communists don't even like to acknowledge that, because it hurts the idea of sharing everything equally. If things have value, and take labor to produce, there's incentive to get good deals for it, or otherwise not share the wealth.

It severely damaged the West since the forced dichotomy imparted a sacred character to an economic system, which is just a tool and not a functional belief system.

Seeing as Marx invented the word Capitalism and prior to him there was no word for free market economies based on free exchange of capital, yes, it's the primary example of communists corrupting language.

Things have value, and demanding that others give you things of value simply because they are part of society is a violation of their rights.

Combine this with the communists' theory of labour, and you can prove that communism is just a rewording of the re-institution of slavery, after all, you don't deserve what you produce, we do.

These people are slavery advocates, just so long as they are the beneficiaries. Why don't they understand that communism doesn't work?

Because they don't work either.

I just learned that in the 1960s the Indonesian government was having a communist problem so they rounded up about 500,000 communists and killed them all. The communist problem went away.

That's not really a good idea.

They deserve it but who are you to judge. You don't kill petty thieves - which is just what communists are.

▲ 7 ▼
– realerfunction 7 points 2 years ago +7 / -0

petty thieves? they're the greatest mass killers in history. why are you running interference for them?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– Flarisu 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

Individual communists don't want to kill you, they just want your stuff and they want government power to take your stuff. That is just petty thievery because they don't even have the balls to take your stuff themselves.

Many individual communists then decide that killing you for your stuff is acceptable - but only if they have institutional power.

Individual communists [...] want government power to take your stuff.

And how do you think they're going to actually do that? Show up at my door and ask nicely? No, they're going to show up with guns and when I don't comply they're going to shoot me and my family. And they know this.

And let's be perfectly clear; this principle doesn't just apply to communists. Anyone that says "I want the government to enforce X" wants the government to shoot you if you don't comply with the enforcement of X.

Individual communists are a threat because they will report you to the state commissar for growing your own food the same way they reported their neighbors for breaking the 'lockdowns'.

How else do you deal with millions of people who want to overturn the system and implement an authoritarian system where they can prosecute any "chud" they like, all because their Jewish professor told them to?

Apparently you're fit to judge, since you said they deserved it. Communists are also far worse than mere "petty thieves". They enact tyrannical police states and you can't forget shit like the Holodomor and the Great Leap Forward.

childlike wonder

Self-awareness at zero.

Communism is the political manifestation of of human resentment, envy, and hatred.

Communism cannot exist so long as anyone, anywhere is not communist, so it must necessarily seek global dominance.

Communism cannot survive impact with even the most basic logic, so it must necessarily rely upon postmodernism and radical subjectivism.

Communism cannot succeed in practice, so it must necessarily declare all of its failures to be the results of insufficient communism.

So communists are immune to reason, inherently authoritarian, and will not have their minds changed by the evidence of real world failure.

Gee, I wonder why they were tossed out of helicopters…

Communism is the political manifestation of of human resentment, envy, and hatred.

I don't think this sentiment gets propagated enough. Every Communist's motivations eventually come out to be basic greed and resentment against those who were more successful than they were. It always comes out if you dig deep enough. Always. It's the little kid who's mad that someone else's Mom packed cupcakes in the lunchbox while the Commie only got a package of fruit snacks.

And then the communists try to actually implement their utopian ideals informed by "radical love", "solidarity" and "childlike wonder", and within a year everyone is starving and turning on their neighbors. Then they say that this isn't real communism and their utopian ideal was sabotaged instead of just not being feasible. Turns out all of those institutions that they dismissed as authoritarian and oppressive have a very good reason for existing the way that they do.

SJWs honestly believe that society's problems--poverty, pollution, injustice, etc.--have simple and obvious solutions, and we would all be living in a fully automated zero-emissions queer socialist Wakanda if not for a few evil billionaires ruining it for their own amusement.

The system is finite but not closed, ironically this is also why communism fail everytime: wealth is not static, you have to keep producing it.

About the second tweet: Their mistake is asuming being "idealist" and authoritarian is mutually exclusive...

There’s a common trend in commies, leftists, trannies, fags, degenerates and the “ism” brigades. They’re all heavily narcissistic. They truly exist in a feedback loop where everything must validate their behavior. They do something bad- it’s actually the fault of those higher on the intersectionality chart. This is why the ideology attracts women, weaklings, and degenerates, it’s not a structure of what you can provide but what the “Nazis” must provide you as penance for perceived sins.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

The "limitless growth" idea of our current corporate systems is in fact a cancer, but half the reason they can even reach the point of thinking such a thing is feasible is because they have the government backing them with tax loopholes, "too big to fall" insurance, and all the other kickbacks they get.

So once again, the problem with capitalism is the government being in bed with it to line its pocket.

I agree with that first one in part.

When a company goes public, its mission statement changes from "provide the best possible product to customers" to "increase shareholder value in perpetuity."

That's all that matters anymore. Not quality. Shareholders. Stock price. Maximizing cash flow.

Private companies are "Are we in the black? Cool." Publicly-traded ones are "Profits, profits, profits."

But something tells me that's not what the retweeter was going for.

Stop using the word capitalism. No-one sat down and came up with a "system" and called it capitalism. What exists is just free enterprise that is backed up by the state so co-operation, not conflict is the superior option in dealing with other people in trade.

"Capitalism" is merely a target drawn around what marxists don't like, it's a handy way of identifying their target. It's the same as we calling degenerates "degenerates" it doesn't have a technical meaning but it's a way of identifying those that are degenerate. They don't call themselves degenerates, so we shouldn't call capitalism. It's just free enterprise.

Communists themselves don't use a ''political'' solution for their enemies, therefor the solution to communist itself isn't a political one.

The mistake is assuming capitalism is the same as free markets. In a country where half of all spending is steered by government spending at all levels, the remaining half is steered by regulation and corruption, and all monetary policy is controlled by a central bank, there's no such thing as a free market in the US. In fact I'd say we're a lot closer to being communist than we are to being free, and it's an abject failure.

you can make the average libertarian today flip flop between loving and hating corporations based on who speaks against em

if a communist says amazon is evil for its monopoly and genuinely horrendous treatment of workers, then amazon is actually great and creates so many jobs and gets my wife's boyfriend's sex toys to my door the same day i order em...

if another libertarian says it then amazon is a corrupt commie shithole that abuses workers just like the soviets (or national socialists if the particular libertarian has never opened a book in his life, which is likely)

Libertarians are no more a monolith than any other group. But corporations are a legal fiction created by government. Government that gives them special rights, uses them to funnel cash to their friends, skirt the Constitution, etc. Any libertarian that loves corporations is no libertarian at all in my book. But that's just me.
