Beyond the myriad ethical failures of Generative AI software ---
Generative AI software: Never ate a bad meal. Never lost a loved one. Never felt its stomach lurch on the swing set. Never felt embarrassed by a social gaffe. Never held a child. Never held an unpopular opinion. Never laughed at an inappropriate joke. Never acted upon a misunderstanding that resulted in a damaged relationship. Never had a good day. Never had a bad day.
Never idly wondered what the unlikely offspring of an echidna mated with an ostrich would look like.
Here's the overwhelming difference--- when an art director talks to me, they have an idea of what they want and what they would like me to do-- but they also want my unique creative input and voice. They count upon it.
They can communicate with me via our shared human experience and language. I can successfully infer countless instructions from the briefest of exchanges.
Even the most vague vapor of a thought can be built upon and given substance for meaningful discussion.
I bring expertise and execution--- but I also bring understanding of what they're after on an intuitive level and can help them to further develop and shape their ideas. Provide another perspective to further inform the concept.
True collaboration.
It's deep knowledge. Human knowledge. Actual intelligence. The education provided by living and sharing the experience of circling the sun on this rotating ball of mud.
When you type prompts into an engine--- you aren't collaborating. You aren't directing. You aren't creating. You're only praying to an opaque mystery that you hope understands you.
It doesn't. 1's and 0's don't understand you any better than you understand them.
Work with people. They're messy, but they're worth it. ;)
An artist that's worth it is always worth it.

AI has seriously exposed who is earnest about their work versus who is just looking for easy money and unfortunately we've discovered just how many people will take that option over anything else.
AI is very good at generating convincingly sounding BS on random topics. But as soon as a job requires any amount of rigor, generative AI fails in a spectacular(and usually hilarious) manner. So the most at risk profession is journalists - no wonder there is a constant barrage of terrified articles about AI.
The medical field is squirming in their seats uncomfortably.
The number of times I've seen people advocating for "just ask AI to write the script for you" is upsetting to me on a professional level. It really is the blind leading the blind out here.
If a person does it you're canceled. If an AI doesn't...it's canceled? Okay.

It's amazing how leftists can be so antihuman in most regards, but then talk like this. They love the concept of humans, and romanticize it, because they're massive utopianists, but then they also hate human society. They'll write whole essays about how great and unique humans are, or how monstrous and cruel they are, depending on what virtue signal works better in a given situation. It's all performative.

This is a good point regarding writers, and it's a huge problem with many writers today. Unlike Tolkien or Edgar Rice Burroughs, these young people have no interesting life experiences to draw from. They don't know how people really behave so they can't write believable characters. Their image of the world is based on a hyperreality they get from consuming other media. So they are no better from an AI that was trained on other AI-generated data. A good generative algorithm will outperform them.
For the actual good writers there's no need to worry about being replaced by AI. Many consumers don't actually appreciate good writing and will take whatever product they are told to consume, but that was true with or without AI.
Artists today lack all ability to not make various versions of themselves with exaggerated features the only difference.
Most bureaucracy is for incompetents. So if something removes the need for one, you read stuff like this.
Yeah, artists and the art they make are irreplaceable and unique. They bring so much effortless creativity to everything they touch. A true artist would never steer you wrong. Truly a source for beauty in this world.
AI lets you generate pictures of attractive women and 'learns' from other artists, unlike me who personally invented the concept of art and have never been to a museum, and would report anyone who told me to make a woman attractive for wrongthink. Ban AI now! Anything that deprives artists of income is unethical! Oh, a factory near me just shut down? LOL, better learn how to code, blue collar scum.

If AI is threatening to you at this point, you aren't really an artist. You are an illustrator (or whatever the written equivalent is) who was hoping to convert the ability to churn out pictures of the latest anime waifu, someone's furry OC, or a niche fetish into a source of income.
A real artist sees AI and thinks, "Hey, an automatic junior artist that can do [Backgrounds/colors/whatever the part of my work that I find least interesting and most tedious] quickly and for free with a reasonable degree of competence.
A real artist thinks, hey, I can train a LoRA on my own work, have the AI learn my style, then have it work from my sketches and skip to the touch ups at the end.
A real artist thinks, maybe the AI could give me some inspiration with this thing I gave up on half way through.
A real artist is probably thinking about how they could use an AI to speed up their workflow enough to progress into animation.
Or forgoing all that. A real artist instead ignores AI and produces art because they're passionate about it, having the humility to admit that there will always be others out there that will outshine them, but still persisting because it's about creation and expression, not fame and profit.
If you can't do any of these things, you aren't really an Artist, and you need to get a real job (one that is part of an industry that produces goods or services required by the general population) like the rest of us.

Dealing with hardship by writing "inspirational" words a very feminine way of dealing with problems. In essence, it involves not overcoming the problem, but trying to convince yourself and people around you that you a good at something. This is useful when the only currency that matters is social currency, i.e. what others think about you. It is useful for navigating a social hierarchy, which is a female domain.
If you are actually trying to be good at something, positive self-talk is only useful in limited circumstances, to keep yourself from being beaten down as you strive to get better. What you are meant to do is actually get better at doing that thing. Then you don't need to tell people how you are "better" because of this or that, you just demonstrate it and they can see it for themselves. This is the only useful currency when actual results matter, not your social position. It is what needs to be done to navigate a competence hierarchy, which is generally a male domain.
Generative AI is much better than current day "artists" - music, visual arts, writers or otherwise because AI does exactly what woke feminist trash do. Take current material and re-gurgitate it in a new form. The AI form is way better than the feminist form because it at least takes reality into account in the form of popularity. Additionally AI can do it quicker and cheaper.
Maybe, just maybe if "artists" can think outside of their feminist box, they might produce works that are desired and original.
Actual artists are still doing fine. I commissioned a piece to commemorate a friend's wedding last year and it was jaw droppingly gorgeous in a way that AI would not have produced.
If it becomes more profitable to simply work off an AI, they will replace most commercially viable artists in a heartbeat because quality often matters very little compared to timeliness within a pipeline and it's hardly a prayer if the output is good enough on its own, or someone has the gumption to use fooocus, inpaint, or has the skill (doesn't take much) to correct what needs correcting. They will replace you for a nickel more and a minute saved. Look at how quickly every art hosting website jumped at throwing everyone's work in the blender - you're basically fucked the moment the smoke clears and the rallying and chanting loses its novelty.
Mediocre AI generations (with corrections) > Most Mid-Upper Level Artists, and soon the best in the industry - and from what I have seen and generated myself, that is pretty fucking soon. Sure as shit the specificities these people cling to will be nothing in short order.
It's hilarious to see it all crash and burn, and to see the political nepotism of the commercially creative fields swallow massive shitlogs over this and the programmer trannies do it all for freeeeeeeeeeeee~
